When I was in Sweden during the summer, I attended at a huge 4 stage nature Party.

Stage 1 - Ambient - At a closed big hut in the woods;

Stage 2 - Progressive - On the lake beach;

Stage 3 - Drumm'N'Bass & Break Beats - On an open field near the woods;

Stage 4 - Psychedelic Trance - Further into the woods at a bottom of big cliff where the D.J stand is inside a cave in the cliff.

Recently I have started listening to more and more D'N'B and Break Beats.
I even started experimenting with creating some D'N'B tracks my self.
D'N'B tends to be extremely charged and aggressive and is aimed more towards the dance floor whereas Break Beats are also good for chillin'. Although you can find a variety of styles in each one of these genres.

I have noticed that D'N'B and B.B have a serious influence on Trance these days, most noticeable during the breaks and in less commercially oriented tracks and styles.
Also as the last track on some albums, I don't have any examples to write down at the moment but I am sure you guys know what I am talking about.

As I understand it the D'N'B and B'B scenes in Israel , where I currently live, are almost non existent and this scene I witnessed in Sweden was totally normal since this cool style of electro music is popular there and all over Europe where it was born I think.
I live in north Israel and I know there were some parties in the City Hall in Haifa but those are history now.
Does anyone know anything about this scene in Israel?

Over all this is a great genre and I would be glad to hear your opinions about it, and how it connects with Psy-Trance, if you got any good recommendations or any other wise words to share.

I am into breaks. Stuff from the Plumps, Meat Katie, Force Mass Motion, Lee Combs, Elite Force, Will Brunner, Soul Of Man, General Midi, Stanton Warriors, Madox...etc.
I find most of that stuff much more psychedelic and driving than today's psy-trance.
The parties have a great vibe as well. Especially the outdoor ones.

I love it all !!           :: Life can be as bitter as dragon tears
But whether dragon tears are bitter or sweet
depends entirely on how each man perceives the taste ::

What psytrance do you mean exactly. I guess it is all up to what psytrance you are listening to. I think that the 4/4 beat structure present in psytrance makes it far more driving and psychedelic than breakbeat/ drum and bass, which will experiment with many types of beat progression. I will say that much psytrance out there today is cut and paste, same track over and over with very little variation, but I ignore that stuff very successfully. There are some gems in the breakbeat and drum and bass genres, but I haven't seen any of them come close to the track writing capabilities of say Kindzadza or Horror Place. After a few tracks or sometimes during the first one, I start to get very bored with drum and bass and breakbeat both because of the repetition in sound and lack of variation. I only know of a few current drum n bass producers that stand out. Hive, Sub Focus, Evol Intent, Stakka & Skynet... And a few breakbeat artists that make interesting stuff: SOTEG(Son of the Electric Ghost), Tipper, BLIM, Meat Katie. More suggestions would be welcome for sure...

I really like a bit of break beat myself, especially some of the really chilled stuff from producers such as Big Bud and LTJ Bukem etc...

Oh you know. That kind of psytrance. that lacks imagination and "cleavernes". Just small things like taking one instrument, swhirling it around and change it smoothly into another sound that then builds a climax. Just as an example. But I know what you mean, and you know what I ment.

I buy Goa/psytrance/prog albums, but I dont got many D'n'B / B.B albums in my collection. So it isnt my main interest of music, but in Oslo, where I come from. D'n'B/B.B clubs are really the best places to be. And most of my friends (who unluckely for me dont like psy) LOVES D'n'B, especially the girls. So I have been pushed into alot of good rythmes and grooves that can and do appear in D'n'B. It's driving and "hard" to dance to. But the crowd is good, and as long as it isnt light (I prefer other electronica genres to be deep) I can cope just fine with these other music styles.

Aphrodite and such is what one would say is quality D'n'B. Not my cup of tea, but he's got plenty of good tracks.
I my self (I'm not very formiluar with names of the D'n'B scene) loves the D'n'B of Dieselboy and especially .. Oh no. I cant remember the name.. Dark Empire.. No. Not that. Well, anyway. This producer I'm thinking about creates exactly the D'n'B that I like. Deep driving psychedelic D'n'B. .. I guess deep is the key word. Both in House and D'n'B

Breakbeat has a 4/4 time signature as well and a few tracks have a kick layered underneath the snare that gives it a more 4/4 feel, but still the break is loud and the drums have the feel of a broken beat.

The kind of psy-trance I do not find psychedelic at all, is the stuff you mentioned, the tunes on Discovalley and the like. I appreciate the effort and the whole dark vibe the people are aiming for, but personaly, I cant find any stimulating musical progression in very fast one note kbbbkbbbk+noisy one shot samples. I am not saying its bad, its got its own monotonous rolling character, I am just saying that I do not like it. I like music in my tunes, or some driving drums, if the quirky, funky bass/lead sequence is missing.
Psychedelia is a very subjective thing anyway, you find it in one note kbbbkbbb sequences, played out at hard house tempos, others find it with a 909 kick/hat, an 808 clap and a 303 acid line. There are no "right" choices.
