IMO, if you are trying to make psychedelic music but at the same time saying "no" to psychedelics, you're kind of a poser.
thats like trying to be a rabbi but refusing to read the torah.
not that you've got to be constantly ingesting loads of acid or whatever, but at least take a look at what this whole psy-world is about.

+1 Learning the tricks and techniques and formulas and making what you think is psychedelic trance, without ever having experienced it is an insult to the genre and those who know.
I think maybe that's why there's so much bogus 'psytrance' out there these days. They listen to it and try to copy it, but it's just not it cos they haven't really experienced it.

Lets be clear here, being straight edge isn't just not taking drugs and alcohol. It's subscribing to the idea that they're bad as well as doing that, and generally somewhat associating yourself with the ideology. A lot of straight edge kids smoke (cigarettes) so it's kinda funny though.
So to say "there's nothing wrong with straight edge because I didn't drink or do drugs for 2 years at some stage" isn't really accurate. |
