An introduction to the festival's history:
Psychedelic Healing Gathering is a festival of urban culture which is, for the third time in a row, organized by the HUK association from Knin, which has been active in promoting urban culture around Knin's district and beyond for the past seven years. This year, the festival will be on the European scale, and an addition will be made to the organizing team by including the SOUND MUTE musical association, which compromises of initiating and stimulating electronic music culture around the Balkans, with help from international artists. The outcomes of HUK's and SOUND MUTE's work are numerous workshops, musical performances, tours, concerts and festivals, one of which is PHG. PHG is conceived as a combination of modern and rural cultures. The rural aspect would be presented through various workshops where the public would be introduced to Croatian customs and cultural heritage, and also via excursions to numerous sites in Knin's vicinity, of which we are most certain that they will please our guests. The modern aspect of the festival would include the introduction of some of the most prominent artists from the electronic music scene, in a natural environment. With this festival, our intent is not to merely organize another "electro party", but to fully expose Croatia's undiscovered and unexplored natural monuments as well as improve international co-operation with our guests from neighboring countries, as well as those coming from distant regions. The whole event would be heavily covered by getting promoted and advertised across the European continent. We have a team of collaborators, (also members of organizations similar to ours, which we are linked up with) in almost every European country, which is willing to advertise the PHG festival on the Internet and by means of posters, flyers, etc.
The content of the festival:
21.07.2007: Various workshops where people would be introduced to trance culture, its origins and history, pleasure trips, and classes about that specific genre of electronic music and its comprehensiveness. During evening hours, there would be get-togethers around camp fires (with possible presentations of traditional dances and rituals), dinner, followed by bedtime.
22.07.2007: We would continue with the workshop program and the excursions, as well as include the opening of the "Chill out stage", where the type of music which blends in with the environment would be played. During the evening, time would be spent around the camp fires, with food and drinks in abundant quantities.
23.07.2007: With this day the modern part of the festival would start. Together with the "chill out stage", we would open a "main stage" as well, as a primary means of promotion for up-to-date electronic music, as well as entertainment in this festival. We would host some of the leading names from the world of electronic music, as well as give the chance to expose and introduce to a wider public a whole array of local artists.
24.07.2007: We would continue with the program with the mixture of beautiful landscapes and music, coming from both, the "main stage" and the "chill out stage", which would remain open and accessible to all day and night. Visitors who still haven't had the chance to visit some of Knin's monuments and tourist sites will get the opportunity to do so, because on this day we will repeat some of the workshops and excursions which already took place during previous days.
25.07.2007: The closing of both stages, and the official closing of the entire festival, with the camp flames getting put out etc.
Conclusion:
PHG is the type of festival which could attract youth from all over the globe. By choosing quality performers, an attractive location for the festival to take place, and by ensuring fair and reasonable ticket prices, we can guarantee the arrival of approximately 2000 people, yearning for adventure, good music and nature. This would become the greatest promotion of Knin as a city as well as becoming the greatest promotion that Croatia would get as a tourist destination.
