Please listen to all the CRAP thats being released these days all around whn ur eleveated ... Ull never wanna listen to psytrance again ... i wud rather listen to goood rock music than to new psytrance brand noise.
BUT , i have to agree wit spytooned that there is some REALLLLYYYYYYY original psychedelia in this genre . Just need to know where to look and for wat . |

But, I do believe now that tthere is a ball of energy just ready to explode yet again like it did back in the flower power era. This time tho its more 2008, Its way more stronger than those lost hippies. And a WAY LLOT MORE psychedelic.
I see it in art around me , the VIDEOS around me , places where i work, EVERYWHERE there is a hidden undercurrent of wat i know as psychedelia. Just there in the human subconciousness Grid . All ready to come back . |

Psytrance is psychedelic and forever will be! You cannot generalise cause right now it has grown too much and much that once was is now lost...But of course by time Psytrance will become what it truely is ;- Psychedelic intelligent dancefloor music  |

This very true....i reckon that many of the sounds are not new but still keep the psycadelic vibe. And of course im only refering to quality music.....leaving the cheese outside!!!!

Soul Kontakt & Fraggletrollet summed it up perfectly...new or old it doesn't matter..once psychedelic, always psychedelic! Piper at the Gates of Dawn is still one the most psychedelic albums ever created...almost 40 yrs. later, it stands the test of time and continues to melt my brain! The question is how psychedelic is the listener? And of course, what one defines as psychedelic.

I also think it's a question of definition. I define psychedelic in music as somehow colourful and spacey, like it was the psychedelic rock in the 60ies and 70ies and like it is good psytrance from the beginnings to nowadays, with the slight influences of oriental and blues and other scales and with a bunch of FX leading to sounds that remind on stuff outside of the range of natural sounds.
From this point of view (and only from this), a bunch of nowadays psytrance isn't psychedelic any more, to less melodic and to much FX- and bass-orientated to fit "psychedelic" in this sense. But if you define it another way...

psy music is like food for me,u cant taste the same recipe all the time,u need changes from time to time to appreciate it.i guess isreali full-on has kinda saturated every1's appetite and v need to change our diet towards finlands suomi to aussie demon tea recs to CCR types till sanaton records to catch the psy wich is long gone pete toong...........
i like to call it the EVOLUTION
forget the same predictable melodies and breaks and wat all goes in commercial so called artists and dj's of the new-gen-trance... |

^^ Zero Blade it is not the question of what is psychedelic to you, or to me..it is a fact that there is a lot of crap being released this days, music that doesn´t not fit the word psychedelic..sometimes to cheesy, sometimes to hardcore, sometimes to crap..and it is a fact that there is necessary to dig a lot to find good music.

Right now there is more crap being released than ever before... But those who are immensely immersed in this music always end up finding the right releases without having to go through all the junk
