here's the initial press release with a fuller description of what else is happening on the night.

The Synergy Project
Friday November 19th, 10pm – 8am
SEOne, Weston Street, London SE1
£15 / £10 Concessions (students, unemployed, partner NGO members)
more info http://www.thesynergyproject.org, info@thesynergyproject.org, 07766 566691

After the success of their October event, which saw 2,200 people enjoy an eclectic, multi-media urban festival, Synergy are happy to announce their last event of the year, once again held in SEOne, London’s largest club venue. Synergy continues to go from strength to strength, with a firm foundation of financial viability in place, enabling the growing community of artists, activists, healers and cooks to devote more time and resources to realising their original intent of harnessing the power of club culture to reach out beyond the activist ghetto to spread messages about peace, social and environmental justice and global community as an alternative to war, greed and xenophobic nationalism. Amidst the prevalent sectarianism within many activist circles, Synergy manages to bring together a wide variety of people from London’s creative underground to create a flourishing and surprisingly harmonious and professional movement for change. Holding true to their maxim that no two Synergy events are ever the same, thereby standing apart from the formulaic homogeneity of mainstream club land, the Synergy community is delighted to welcome three new production companies into the fold.

Project Ozma is a collective of DJs and VJs seeking to explore a deeper fusion between a wider variety of dance-music genres and the visual dimension of club culture. Breaking the mould of conforming to one musical genre, Project Ozma will be hosting the main dance floor, preparing a series of collaborative DJ & VJ sets themed around the concepts of Renewable Energy, The Sun, Birth, Growth & Development, Recycling and World Peace, honouring Synergy’s aim of pushing back the boundaries of club culture.

Festival of Flight, producers of acclaimed conscious parties in aid of Anti-Slavery International and “Speak Out” an event to raise awareness of non-violent conflict resolution and to raise money for Hope and Homes for Children, will be hosting “Forced Out”, a room of funk, urban soul, poetry, visual arts, multi-media and speakers to raise awareness of the illegal and forceful eviction of the indigenous people of Diego Garcia and of their struggle to return to their homeland.

Costa Urbana, a collective of artists from a variety of countries in the Mediterranean basin, bring a diverse array of sounds, sights and tastes with everything from traditional Middle Eastern percussion fused with digital beats, DJs from Greece, Italy and the Balkans, plus live oud and clarinet fused with Indian and gypsy rhythms and visual installations with video and slide projectors exploring the built and natural environment of the Mediterranean region.

Synergy veterans Art Nation return to the gallery space to provide an opportunity for talented yet unknown artists to exhibit their work and works with partner non-governmental organisations to present their messages in a creative way by supporting collaborations with artists within the wider Synergy community, not least the European Creative Forum and the 491 Gallery.

Finally for the more spiritually inclined, Sangita Sounds, a Brixton-based record company working with indigenous classical musicians from India, Morocco, Iran and Australia, will combine with the White Tara Healing Temple to create a space and a sound for the exploration and enjoyment of the melodies of our minds and the rhythms of our realities, with a participatory music space, ambient world-dance grooves and a wide variety of therapies including massage, shiatsu, reflexology and reiki.

Apart from one of the most friendly, peaceful and conscious crowds in London and the ever-changing wealth and diversity of the production, what sets Synergy aside from the commercial mainstream is that, rather than relying on big names to pull the crowds, the spirit of Synergy is to be found on the creative fringe – the campaign stalls, the drum circle, the whole-food cafes, the jugglers and the breadth of community participation in the production, with over 150 people, from admin coordinators to the welcome stewards coming together to put on the night.

hello

Each visual artist we have choosen is a very establised artist in seperate genres of music - spanning accross - psychedelic trance, breakbeat, electro, drum and bass and live bands.

Here is a little info on each artist >>

I hope you find all this info inspiring, if anyone would like to know more about VJ'ing or visual arts their will be info stalls (run by the NOW film project) and loads of video geeks to speak to at Synergy Project meets Project OZMA!!

These details are for the visual artists based in the OZMA space!!

inside-us-all >
were residents with quite a few psychedelic trance events in london and bristol we've have been working within the psy scene now for 2 yrs - loving every minuite of it!!
We can be found @ glade fesival (main stage), glastonbury festival (glade, idspiral), turaya festival (main stages), Liquid connective, symbiosis, xentrix, twisted / tribe of frog, planet shroom, TIP records, psygate, fairy tales, synergy project, and obviosly Project Ozma! We love the psy-scene and aim to improve the communication possibilities with our 100% origianl footage and exiting instalaltions! (oh and were always up for a laugh!)

Syzygy >>
The syzygy boys have supported the OZMA project from day one really, based in the mighty city of Birmingham - these two multi-talented artists can be found playing all accross the country. Heavily involved within the AVIT video conferance, promoting there own video related event - Zeotrope - and helping out with workshops, charity events and large club / festival events - these 2 great guys are welcomed back to join us for this closing chapter.

RTFM >
Well, what a breath of fresh air! These guys have suported OZMA constantly, there vibe, there smiles and their enthusiasm has been a wonderful contribution to the OZMA angle. Based in Manchester these 2 very talented guys have rigged, de-rigged, fetched, plugged and played at quite a few OZMA's and without their help - all this would not be possible! Based up North, the RTFM rig can be found in psy-parties, break nights and now I believe getting involved within the northern laptop jams!!?

UNJ + 3YE >
Unj played for one of the 1st OZMA's in Reading - a small 250 person venue we packed out...he's coming all the way down from Leeds to support us and offering Unj's great community spirit to the project - unj can be found playing at Cabbage in Leeds along with a selection of community based art projects around the northern lands!! 3YE is a new addition to the OZMA crew - were all exited to see his work and enjoy his spirit.

Bubblevision >
THE DUDE!!!
Rod has been so supportive of our project offering over 25 projectors to our last event - bubblevisions work is (as far as any of the core OZMA crew are concerned) without doupt one of the most vibrant visual feasts on the planet - seeing is believing - and Rods work for this next event is going to breathtaking - working closely with us on one of the main room installations! Using his mighty 8 channel slide vj unit alongside oil, slide, 16mm bubblevisions work is eclectic, powerful, funny and very psychedelic!!

Tod - microchunk >
Tod joined us for the 1st OZMA event in Reading, were really happy to welcome him back for this closing story, Tod's work can be seen all over the world aswell as being resident artist with Microchunks visual company (london) and resident with the now famous EGG british band, who this year packed out the big chill festival for an overwealming performance.

Eskatonia (australia) >
Obviously a new artist for OZMA to welcome, we were sent Eskatonia showreel, read the style of events he was involved within in Australia and when he let us know he was going to be in London for OZMA - it was a defiante he will be on the line up. Eskatonia supports the great earthcore events down-under..as well as being involved in the cutting edge underground psy-scene in Australia...we welcome Eskatonia with open arms and are really looking forward to the suprises he has in mind!!!

mondo >>
Having not yet Mondo, were all quite exited about what he is going to bring to OZMA, his demo was fantastic, and his attitude seems so fitting with the OZMA vibe. having not played for us before were really looking forward to his energy and vibrancy behind the control desk!!

Rho-D >>
Once again a new rig for OZMA, based in sunny Brighton as a unit there involved in some fantasic projects once we were familiar with there work, there commitment and there vibes Rho-D was a defiante choice to add to the vibrancy and eclectic message OZMA has always tried to project. Looking forward to meeting you all!

Evomedia >
Another new and seemingly exiting rig to join the OZMA crew, were were sent their showreel very early on - and there exitement, dedication, interest and creativity immediatly earned them a place on this fantastic line up. We are all really looking forward to meeting you, partying with you and celebrating this great VJ mash up!

Black House >
Yet again another new rig for OZMA - black house were one of the 1st showreels we watched for this next edition...and with there emails and constant interest in the project we all felt that there work and enthusiasm was beautifully fitting with how we belive the VJ scene should be pushed - seemingly very helpful guys, very enthusiastic and very inspiring with all there creativity...really looking forward to our meeting..and whatever the future holds...for us all.

Stickman >

no more really I can say!
with Jamies constant interest in OZMA it is all a complete mystery to us why Jamie has not been involved before but now he is then it seems the project is finally complete. Jamies constant promotion, technical interest, offerings of help, support and generally anything that can inspire us all to push the possibilities - we welcome Jamie and lynette with open arms and a huge thank you hug.
Were really gald you can be with us on this day - we promise it wil be a great, creative adventure for you to share with us all!!

Tribaldelica >
Based all the way near the Scottish border, this breathtaking decor crew graced us with 2 or 3 fantastic drapes at our last hugely succesful gathering in May. Their work has a femanine feeling to it - all highly UV reactive drapes and hangings showing nature and the great outdoors spliced together with detailed psychedelic patterns and dreams. Their work is very new and very fresh to the london scene and were all really looking forward to celebrating this time with you!

Skymermaid >
Louise is a very close partner within the OZMA project. Her enthusiasm, energy, creativity, attitude and commitment is astonoshing. her decor can been seen at most psy-trance parties in and around london - her residency with liquid connective has showcased her work all over the country - indoors and outdoors! Louise is working with inside-us-all at creating the centre piece to the space...alongside providing one of the freshest AV LIVE acts in the UK - which I am sure Barlcay will let you know more about!

Occasional Table >
A freeform decor crew from the great Atlantis Of CANNOCK! - Lisa and Miss Snowball have been contributing exiting environemts to Psycle (nottinghams only psy-trance party) as well as joining us for our last event with their great UV mushroom landscapes! Were so glad these two great friends can be with us. More brummy power!

LINE UP FOR ALL THE SYNERGY PROJECT ROOMS

INFO FROM STEVE @ SYNERGY PROJECT >>

Is there a more diverse, creative event in the rest of the capital ?

The line-ups for the other rooms are :

In the Blue Room

“FORCED OUT: Festival of Flight in aid of Diego Garcia”
Once again the nationally acclaimed Festival of Flight is back on the London club scene presenting “FORCED OUT” at SYNERGY on the 19th November 2004.

The “FORCED OUT” room will live up to all expectations inviting both artists and audience to embrace their choice in the celebration of positive action and change. The audience will experience a room of unparalleled excellence and positivity, featuring:
• Live music by THINK and LAID BLAK, two of the biggest and best funk, urban and soul bands currently coming out of Bristol,
• Upbeat funk and groove DJs FATCAMP taking time out from their hugely popular residency at Fabric,
• And most importantly art, poetry, speakers, multi-media and visual art displays working together to promote interactive and positive education about the issue of Diego Garcia.

..So what on earth is the issue of Diego Garcia??
Diego Garcia is an island near Mauritius off the coast of Africa that used to be inhabited by a peaceful native community. In the late 1960’s the entire population of the island was illegally and forcefully evicted from their homeland by the UK and US military and deported to Mauritius. Itwas then transformed into a military air base and is today the largest kick-off point for the military in the Middle East.
Now the people of Diego Garcia want their homeland back and are planning to take a flotilla of boats from Mauritius to do just that! They will be sailing towards their deaths – unless the word gets out about what is about to happen.

The FORCED OUT room at synergy will contain, photos, poetry and artwork from the people of Diego Garcia and there will be speakers from the community.

The Gallery Room

“Who are you? Who am I? Ever wondered what you look like in your subconscious? Let your hostess with an identity crisis Tin Foil Space Girl guide you on a journey to discover your inner caricature.”

Providing an opportunity for talented but yet unknown artists to show their work to the vast Synergy community and creating a space for interactive artistic expression to occur. The Gallery provides the art materials so you can express yourself in many different ways! By now almost a Synergy legend – the wishing tree – many of you have spent hours ‘crafting’ your wishes before tying them on. The Gallery also helps NGOs (War on Want, Tourism Concern, The Gaia Foundation amongst others) to present their important message in a creative way by supporting artists to collaborate with them.

This time round the Gallery will present drawing classes by wendolena alongside life-size puppetry and beautiful soundscapes from Stefan 491 plus loads more to provide a light hearted look at personal development in the face of adversity.

Changing the world starts with changing ourselves, too easily forgotten in our stressful crazy world!

Artists will be supplied by Art Nation, the European Creative Forum and the 491 Gallery
To get involed email edwinarigby@yahoo.co.uk

“Bring all your beautiful character anomalies and we‚ll chip of the bits you don‚t want, and exaggerate them to the point of derision” tin foil girl

The Costa Urbana space

Costa Urbana invites you to experience the Mediterranean approach to celebration. Since time immemorial the Mediterranean has provided the setting for contact and cultural exchange among people of various colours, races and religions. Unlike today, times of peace have seen people across the great Sea that connects Europe, Africa and Asia, progressing and flourishing by accepting and learning from each other. Today, the natural beauties of the coast blend in with the artificial, man-made structures of its chaotic, overpopulated and nocturnal cities. Costa Urbana celebrates the many faces of the Mediterranean metropolis setting the stage for a rebirth of urban entertainment bathed in colour, humanity and a dose of south European anarchy.

Especially for Synergy we have arranged anything from chilled ancestral tunes to the immigrant hip hop of the Med metropolis and deeper jazzy grooves, from exuberant fusion live sets to hard-beating Athens clubbing…

Paolo Polcari – Napoli’s finest producer on his dub-electro & jazzy projects
Mahjoon – oud, clarinet, samples in Mideastern, Indian and gypsy colours
Driftwater – afrobeat, Brazilian dn'b, N. African beats w/ live accompaniment
Lautrec – live at the meeting point of sequencers, samplers & improvisation
Leon Sega – intricate lo-fi electro, tech-house & dub-techno from Athens
Pot Ato – cut and paste soundtrack for strolling down the city by the sea
Ionas & Alia – late remixes & improvisations of Balkan and African sources
Middle Eastern percsussion ensemble on fusion rhythms
Visual installations with video & slide projectors by ópolis exploring the built & natural environment of the Med basin
Featuring Black Cherry, Erica, NNT and others on video and short film

In the Healing arches

Please note that contrary to the information on our flyer this space will be hosted by Sangita Sounds, building onto the enoumous success of the last event. More details of who is involved will be posted soon on the website!

White Tara Healing Temple

White Tara is a female enlightened being whose function is to bestow long
life, health and wisdom. The White Tara Healing Temple is a sacred space
of purification and healing where people can learn about and experience
different healing forms including shiatsu, reflexology, Swedish and
holistic massage, thai massage, Reiki, energy healing or a Polynesian
Maori massage. It is a perfect space open for people to balance and
rejuvenate energy in a beautiful and peaceful environment.

forgot to mention....

ALL Dj's will be giving out Cd's with there mix (which will be being played on the night) out during their sets - these mixes will be given to the most colourful, creative, smiling people...the mixes will be given out by our wide selection of dancers, performers and costumed charictors...

each dj's set being played on the night is really groundbreaking...were trying to close the gap and the bullshit between pigeon holing genres of psychedelic sounds...!

dress up, dance, smile and you could be in for a new music collection!

I have to agree - a spur of the moment night with a diverse (although very young) crowd.

Highlight of the night....all the music, the vibe was amazing but talking a 17 year old girl through her first liquid acid trip was most amusing...

Had a really good stomp with such a variety of music to listen to as well...hugely enjoyable night. Very rare that I go to clubs these days, but this brought back a lot of good memories Drome style!!
