I've been listening to a lot of non-formua based Psy lately and I've noticed that there are a bunch of producers out there who go beyond the elements that form the psy we normally hear. Some use humor to bring that twisted sillyness into their sound. Others use elements from Drum&Bass, IDM, Disco, Electro and Classical music to add more life to their production...

A few that I've really been digging :

Squaremeat

Wild sounds from Finland. Theyve mastered the art of fruity-loop production to create an original powerful sound that groovy and pushy. High BPMs, crazy breaks, disco basslines. Great twilight/morning sounds!

Texas Faggot

Who Needs Koneisto (We R Homeisto)! You dont know what to expect with track names like that but this duo gives us a fresh original spin on Goa trance. Its Funny, its ultra-high BPM and its wildly psychedelic. This is one act I cant wait to see Live!

Loopus in Fabula

Take progressive psy and timetravel back to the disco days. Rolling disco basslines with groovy psy soundz layed on top. I've never heard anything like this but I cant get enough. Great stepping stone between electro and psy.

Kino Oko

Progressive Psy with an intellegent/classy sound. Its obvious that a lot of thought has gone into each track on 'Lost Entertainment' Each holds its own with a groovy psychedelic blend. Polish Boom!

Fractal Cowboys

Ultra Dark Psy that uses the bassline to turn your brain into pulp. Wicked samples and fast twists and turns. I'm not the biggest fan of dark trance but this is another live act I know I'd love to watch!

Benza

Benza creates takes the best things about Goa trance reinvents it for 2005 with 'Retrofuturism ' Just hear the track 'Soiled' Its funky, its deep but its still Goa!

I'm sure there are a many more out there that go above and beyond the Psy-Trance sound. IMO, its really where high BPM production should be headed. No roadblocks here!

Please feel free to add any more artists you feel 'different' about. It doesnt have to be killaarghh or even popular. As long as its something original.

BooM

Savage Scream
(Some dude from Japan. Always has this groovy bassline and is not afraid of new twists and turns. Savage Scream - Rotting Side.)

Psykovsky
(Another dark act from Russia. Great samples and wicked psychedelics. Psykovsky - Golden green Shit.)

Melovsky's
(Mexican act. I cant get enough of the amount of funk in their tracks. Every track has like 3 different twists. Melovskys - Hallucination. )

Artifakt
(arguably one of the most talented producers out their today. Artifakt - Nosferatu.)

Derango
(also has one helluva crazy way of making music. Purely for the psyfreaks. Derango - We are all Mad here RMX.)

Talpa
( prolly my fav from this whole bunch. Gives a very eastern feel to his tracks.. but also a bunch of classical influences. Talpa - Multiple Organsim Disorder.)

Flyh
(Scandinavian? duo, who make this sick, fat bassline goa progg. Some good stuff right here. Flyh - Fifth Floor.)

Sensient
(Very nice, deep cutting progg. Some jazzy influences and a whole dollop of psychedelics).

Hey man, would be nice if u could give us a bit of an insight to the acts u mentioned (a couple of lines for each)

I just dont want this thread turning into another name-dropping one.

I meant the same thing in this case. Producer sounds more apt because a lot of this music has been Produced from scratch (no reuse of samples, etc)

yeah, i doubt it
just because you use a sample, doesnt make you unoriginal
there is such a thing as original recycling           Load Universe into Cannon. Aim at Brain. Fire.

No doubt. But I think credit should be given to those who choose to do it their own way.

Also, I didnt really mean vocal samples, I was thinking more along the lines of kickdrums and reusing effects (sorry if I got the terminology wrong)

Didnt start this thread to diss any producers/artists, I'm just looking for more like the ones I mentioned.

no, we are talking about the same thing
it is just that even the artists you mention have parts that they could not have created on their own, and there is nothing wrong with that even if it is done well

anyways, i want to add haltya to the list
sooper original, nice use of instruments, breaking boundaries

sienis as well, great feel-good music that uses only one formula: "do not use formulas"

joujouka is original, but i dont like it

etnoscope, great percussion work, a lot of folksy moments that work really well
music that really puts you in a trance without being straight-up "trance"           Load Universe into Cannon. Aim at Brain. Fire.

I agree with all of the producers you listed - and, I think its fair to go into detail with side projects and collaborations also.

In Kino Oko´s case

Bigwigs, Imago, Promesa, Tromesa where Tromesa and Bigwigs are "the big ones".

In the case of Texas Faggot we also have Mandalavandalz + KolmioKulmioSilmiö as "the big ones".
