wow lots of good feedback so far I see haha very helpful..
I don't know about the akai sample cds thing.. but!
1.) use of gates like mgtriggergate I think it's called.
2.) use a lot of acoustic instruments like acoustic basses, violins maybe, acoustic guitars, acoustic drums mic'd up. Also, great flute sounds are really easy to come by.
3.) look into spectrasonics vocal planet
4.) Get some nice bass lines that can just be solo'd over that create a nice groove.
5.) Listen to more world music, latin stuff, look into interesting kinds of percussion sounds from around the world
Maybe I'll think of more, but that should be a really good start.

It is always interesting to see people starting out with a vision and where it all goes from there.
First learn all you can about the basics in the world of sound, then you will likely find out that it is a completely different thing that comes out of you. Make sure you keep your originality in whatever it is you do.

Also,
6.) Gypsy scale is used a lot by Raja when he solos with his flute, and it's used a lot with leads and all of that.
7.) Lush sounds synthesized, moog modular would be a nice soft synth to use, or albino3.
8.) how they do their vocal effects, I couldn't tell you because I don't know.

quite easy on cubase
4 sends (fx channels)
set them to be 'pre fader' so u can mute the original sound
export the wet signals
and chop as the tutorial says
i think it used on top of the dry sound too but not have to be depent how wet did u go on the sends..
personly i think its long tiring way to do on cubase.. just use the offline process.. this way is for programs that dont have this feature.
