Have any of you Dj's/Producers out there experienced some problems with tinnitus due to high volumes at forestparties, hours of producing or so on? Do you have any solutions to prevent eardamages or so on? I thought about it and its probably important to have in mind, dont you think?

I wear ER-15 (Etymotic Research) Custom fitted earplugs at most parties when I am on the dancefloor for long periods of time... If you havent got a pair of flat response custom earplugs... do yourself a favour and get some. You need to go see your nearest Audiologist and they can do the mold for you etc...

I suffered tinnitus when I wasn't wearing them cos I was tripping balls too much to bother putting them on

I get it from time to time...really scary bout this.I mean most of my life I had music around me,days and nights.I am happy I dont know when it was tha last time that I had that tinitus but I know I first realized it already some years ago.It might happens a few times in year though. But defo made those expiriences and became more careful.Be careful with your ears!Enjoy all that frequencies clearity. For me my ears are more improtant to than eyes or nose.

I just woke up two days ago deaf in my left ear, I thought it would go away but it did not, the next day (yeterday morning) I bought a earwax cleaning kit and it did not help... so I spent $500 on an audiologist and had my hearing tested.. it was a sad scary day. earwax was not a problem, and my ear drums were resoponding properly to pressure, but I could not hear mid to low frequencies in that ear. the same sounds in my right ear sounded like someone talking in a tinny telephone in the other. stereo music was not as satifying and I was on my way to being at peace with being deaf in my left ear. he recommended I buy ginko baloba and niacin right away to help oxigenate my inner ear.. He also recommended I go to an ear-nose throught specialist Asap. after not being able to get an emergency appointment, I went to the malibu Urgent care clinic, and spent another $160 to get looked at. luckly the doctor there knew a freind wo was an ENT specialist in santa monica so he got an emeregency appointment there.. $275 later, I was perscribed a 7 day steroid treatment... so after spending nearly $1000 (most of my money), on my way home from the doctor, I think I may have got a tiny winie bit of hearing back in that ear.. I am really praying for a full recovery but i must say what a humbling experience this is for me. hearing is a major sense and can not be replaced like a broken headphone.. our bodys are complex, and delecate, and medicine will probably never provide spare parts if we ruin the originals... also our health is much more valuble than any sum of money.. billions of dollars will not restore my hearing... but hopefully eating healthy, sleeping well, praying, and taking this steroid will.

Wavesinspace,

yet another reason why I live in Canada, the health costs in the US are simply over the top.

I had a waxed up ear once , but until I had it out I had an inkling of your experience. Made me value my ears a whole lot more.

Luckily I do not have Tinnitus, considering my party history I call that a miracle...           Upavas - Here And Now (Sangoma Rec.) new EP out Oct.29th, get it here:

just want to update that some of my hearing has come back.. hard to say exactly how much.. definately not 100% but it is getting better.. . for those of you who are exposed to loud music I highly recommend spending the $125 to see an audiologist and get custom earplugs made.. they have a flat frequency response and can be ordered with 9db, 15 db or 24db reduction...

You can also buy good foam ear plugs. Just make sure the NRR is 29db or more... also make sure they fit your ears right. Took me some time to find the right earplugs...

dude glad ur starting to hear again give it time man like u stated the human body is very complex and somethings can never be restore this one of those situations when u wish u had a system restore, but hopefully with the steroids they prescribed to ya you be soon back to normal or atleast be 90 % percent its better than nothing,

are fuckn crazy and over the roof and if u aint got insurance like i do and lots of other people ur royaly

I have Tinnitus, and try to make people aware of protecting their ears. Tinnitus is the symtpom, not the cause. Healthcare has gotten out of control in the US, another example of the cons that go with the pros of capitalism. Seems like moderation is being thrown out the window more & more often here.

Visiting Canada often, it's nice to see citizens getting health care. It's has it's flaws, like every system. The money has to come from somewhere (i.e. taxes), so you are paying for it, just in different ways. There have been Canadian citizens who come to the US for treatment because of waiting lists. But it evens things out more between the have's & have-not's. It also means you don't get kicked in the teeth when you are down & out.

If you've exhausted your efforts, also consider seeing a Neuro-Muscular Dentist (also caleld Neuro-Dentist) if you can. They specialize more in the teeth, jaw, neck, shoulder & head problems which could be the cause of Tinnitus. I'll see if I can dig up the school of neurodentisrty webpage which might help you find one in your area.

wavesinspace dude I am really glad for you!keep at it love your ears take care and stuff and for sure it will still getting better.
I have also really problems and this is a problem cause I love music for the last 32 years as others breath. Not only psytrance.Imma beginner without any aims i love the multiple options of creation by a huge imaginary concering electronic music at all.I dont want to get a deal someday or sth I never would send my tunes or sth.Just keep experimenting and having fun and many planse like maybe rather developing a nwe category or style of music than to make a hit like thousands before. This thinking is of course not very practical i guess.Music is "almost" more imporant for me spirit than anything else its a sad truth for my conscious and allmost women are not able to stand it haha but thats how it is love can make blind I hope my love dont make me deaf.

LOL i feal your statement, it would be nicer to come up with some ne genre than be a superstar producer, i too been experientin mostly electronic sounds with organic ethnic instruments with a touch of film scoring, its great to get all those influences in the melting pot no sense in makin the same tunes as everyone else so diversity is GOLD
keeps it up man, Im also praying i find a women who could put up with my addiction of music now if i could find a producer chick with the same passion, ima keep praying hehhe
Cheers
