I moved on from psychill more or less since the last year to post-rock.
For me psychill has become too generic- sounds more or less the same. There is nothing that musically tugs at the strings inside. Yes i just made a sweeping statement! The only two psychill album that i can say really stand out from the rest and i listen to a lot even now are CBL - Hydroponic Garden & Tripswitch - Circuit Breaker
Some post rock name s that i would like to mention on this thread , so i can evoke some reactions - Hammock , Lights out Asia, The American Dollar & port - royal.
Anyway would like to hear some opinions.

I love both genres!
As for post-rock, Land of Kush's Against the Day is great, one of the best albums I've heard in a long time. And it helps the album is based off my favorite author Thomas Pynchon's book of the same name. And of course Godspeed! You Black Emperor, Explosions in the Sky, Labradford, A Silver Mt. Zion...
As for psychill sounding too generic? Can't really help you with that. There's been some amazing releases since those two favorites of yours came out...just go digging more. |

I'm less about particular styles now and more about music that fits nicely together from different styles and genres.
I think also that psychill means different things to different people. |

i listened to the links that bodhisattva put up above and i liked aerosol the most. will probably get one of their albums. thanks for the info.
however i think the term post-rock didn't describe really what i was listening to. i just thought it was inoffensive but pleasant electronica.
psy-chill is a different beast methinks. |

My pleasure spatialize
Yes, it's not exactly post-rock, it's a sort of a fusion of electronica, ambient, shoegaze and post-rock. ( Aerosol is a one man project by the way. Unique stuff in my opinion. It's very hard to sounds original nowadays I think, and he manages to do it beautifully. He simply has its own sound and style )
Also like DjSchofield said, "psychill means different things to different people."
^ Well, that's true. For instance, I wouldn't call CBL's music psychill, but some will and that's ok. Tripswitch's 'Circuit Breaker' is indeed psychill/psybient in my opinion, though the new Tripswitch sounds more colorful and with a wider range of styles in it. Simply more creative I guess.
Also I thinks that maybe it's time to forget about all the definitions etc, and just enjoy what we love
Cheers !
