Can you dream without thinking? I think I sort of see what you are getting at, but I wouldn't call that pure state where you are conscious of consciousness and nothing else, when you are one with the energy you speak of. When you dream as I understand the word, you strive for something, there is something you want (that you don't have usually), but in this state, there is absolutely nothing you desire, you are completely free, because there is nothing you need and you strive for nothing.

i understand what you are saying but by the word dream i meant that that moment is a complete dream, it's another world a better one than the one you experience usually! Surfing on the waves of sound...

I just tried to start a bitch fight with you in another topic - and then I find this, what a marvelous opportunity  mauhahahaha
What is my point of listening to psytrance ? Well, it makes me feel good for starters - Its become a big part of my life by now.
I guess I do listen to it for dancing, some times - I think it inspires you to dance, or move your body... so thats a part of it yes. However, it does take my consciousness to new places, I often day dream and feel detached from the world when listening to psytrance.
It is for me, also more than the music - As I mentioned, its part of me, my life as much as being able to talk, see, dream and walk. Its hard to describe, but the words "live and breathe psytrance" comes to mind.
I get basicly the same kind of experiences out of progressive psytrance and full on psytrance, with chillout stuff I do not get that much energi out of my body though but as far as "reaching higher levels" go, it works just as well for me (in same cases better).
Listening intensely to the music, over longer periods of time makes me loose touch with my body, makes me enter a dreamstate and also affects me emotionally in very different ways.. I think of things in my life that have happened, things that may will happen and so forth... or I will maybe completely move away from the normal world into day dreaming about anything that comes to mind (aliens, the universe, philosophy, love, war, nature).
I like the same music whether I do drugs or not. There has, for me, been a tendency while on LSD that I am able to visualize the day dreaming. While on MDMA, the dreaming aspect becomes more pronounced. The drugs might flavour the music?
Some of the most extreme emotional experiences Ive had, have been while I was sober... Like dancing for 5 hours straight not being able to feel my body, or getting tears in my eyes from a beautiful piece of music, or just getting into a kind of aggressive mood letting the music dictate every move. All this while daydreaming.
Music is for the mood like you say, I do a lot of listening with headphones as well - Especially since I myself do not like at atmosphere at the danish parties that much anymore.

Well - I think there has always been a wish to reach a broader audience from certain artists.
Which is understandable I think, and if the music rocks then its also fine with me...

I think, you must also note that it is not always up to the artist how his music will be promoted by lets say a label or distributor. Maybe he would not himself have labelled something "psytrance" but rather "DanceTrance" or whatever he might think would describe it.
For instance, Astrix "Fire" I would call "Full On Rock N Roll Trance"
Still, the artist can name the track "Full On Disco" or "Cheesy Thingies" - "Mainstream Psychedelia" hehehe.. Theres also the artist that choose the name Pop Stream which I think is the way to go.
For sure, labelling somehing Psychedelic Trance, when it isnt really Psychedelic at all (by psychedelic I mean weird, abstrakt and perhaps a little chaotic) can be a bit annoying...
However, the name sells ! And once we leave the hardcore circle of psytrance freaks and move further into the mainstream market where the money is, it will all start to sound the same to people anyways.
Therefore, stuff is being marketed that way. Also, in short, its not per say up to the artist how his music is being marketed. (some dont care either Im sure)

It sure makes sense, and it also makes me feel sad if the artists make the music for the labels and the distributors. I think music is art and it should come from the heart.. Music made just for selling doesnt have any soul and doesnt affect me the same way as music made with feelings....
Guess they will be playing "Psytrance" in MTv soon..  |

They already did that, ages ago Not the most psychedelic thing in the world, but I do know of an astral projection video that was aired in the morning hours hehe... Im guessing there have been others hehe...
No, soon all psytrance will be short 3-4 minute tracks, and will be very dull in the beginning and end as well - so it will be easier for the radio jocks to talkover the tracks hehehe.. arghhhhhhhhh... the horror...
Id say, most artists are happy just to have their music released - people say they will maybe earn money from booking, so if they create music for the money, they would create music to get more bookings... landing a mainstream hit could really change their lives hehe.
Lets just hope, that the ones who will be the most successfull will be the ones who have the talent for creating kick ass music
The more promotion there is, the worse the music becomes - thats what I think generally happens.

They played it in mtv allready? hahahaha...
Well i guess i should be happy becouse there still are some people doing the real shit for fun..
I guess money changes people, but im damn sure there are people who dont care about world wide fame and who dont kiss ass for cash..
Respect to the people who making music for the experience of true psychedelics..
Listening to psytrance in the radio would end up like todays radio... you keep it in the background and the track would be played 5 times in 1 hour with 20 minutes of commercials and some lame dj saying " And now the mega hit from ****** for the 523 time today... I would get sick of it..
Even if the best kickass producer make it to the top of the "popscene" he wouldnt be worth shit to me becouse he sold his soul...
And i dont think "normal" Discopeople could handle 5 hours with 150+ bpm music getting played over and over again in the radio So i guess im safe for a while and can still enjoy some good tunes for a couple of years hehe...
Anyway, Mainstream is normal... and normal is boring |

btw, i dont think its about the amount of promotion,
i think its the way they feed us with crap..
but this autumn has been promising so i should not complain right now Some good releases has been comming out and im gonna take the time to enjoy them now and wait for the next |

sound holds the secret.
if science and religion became one thing (which for many people it is) sound would be god.
everything is connected and if you look at what sound actaually is in terms of physics etc... it shows you that sound phsycially effects the space it is in... and if you look at how a brain and a body functions... sound effects the inner workings of that too... i think the link between the external world and the internal world, is sound. like the link between an atom and the solar system, or like the link between a person's thoughts while they are dancing, and the way the dancing is actually effecting the external world...
i think trance & dance go back thousands of years to parts of human understanding of the nature of the universe (internal and external) our tribal minds knew it, and our technological minds know it.

for me, music is mainly about dreaming and escaping the boring everyday world.
i love dancing to it sometimes, but mainly (99.8%) i listen to it at home.
i also love ambient or calm psychedelic music at home but i mainly listen to heavy or euphorical "dance music"...
somebody told me, he couldn´t listen to bumbumbumbum music at home and that it was only party music for him.
well
for me it´s the contrary, hehe (even listen to high energy psychedelia when going to sleep  )...
