So there are psy banks for albino by cosmosis, psy banks for predator vst, Renegade vst also I believe is made for psy, squelch is obv great,

check into camelspace vst. you can take normal sounding open filter waveforms and make them sound insane, and because it has flanger, reverb, delay, gate, etc. it's cost effective and you're not losing on quality because that company does great things.           www.musicproductionnatural.com || www.facebook.com/djamoeba | facebook page

together with Albino and Alien 303 it's my main vst instrument....love it!!!!

I dont get all the love which sylenth gets here...it's a nice synth for me but that's it...

Sylenth is for me a bass monster and that's all I use it for - but it does that job so well that its worth bringing up over and over again.

I'm sure its good for other sounds too, but its modulation and whatnot is so limited that I don't feel inspired to make much more than simplistic patches on it.

That and I probably suck            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

+1. First time I am using in the track we are making right now and I must say it packs a punch and a half!
Have used it or leads and retro pads in tracks. As limited as it may be, it is one of the best sounding soft synths I have ever heard.

Peace out.

sylenth is far to be good only for bassline ! it shine for some pads and leads imo (don t like it much for psy bassline tbh, i find it maybe to clean and plastic when not processed )

was playing with a new plugin i got and was using decap when answering above, made me think to switch it to the vulture to try to get close and see the difference when decap is used in a analog chain (very light eq and comp + 30 db of preamp gain trying to get more color )

crappy beat sequence made in 2 minutes ,100% synthetized and unproccessed, unmixed and mono.. but turn it loud

you can hear the vulture bypass when i switch it on .decap > vulture> decap ,i think it sound quiet close used lightly but i tweaked with that aim, both can sound great but sound different in general...

decap have hard robotic transient i always reconize plugins vs hardware listetning to this... it can be avantage in some case

The thing with the decapitator and what I really like about it, is that is has a long range of just a hint of overtones that you can barely hear and a lot of steps to get to the full blow, destroyer distortion type of sound. The 5 circuit switches and bias help a lot with sound shaping possibilities and on top of that, it does not rob the bottom end.
I don't think I've actually recorded the Virus without it in the signal chain, even with just a hint of overdrive, in the last 3 months. Its not the Vulture for sure, but it does warm/thicken the cold digital Virus, it kinda brings some the nice edge the Nord Lead has and I can have many instances of the Decap....can even stack them and you'll still have the transients there.
It sounds digital, but is also sounds brilliant.
The Decapitator alone made me to start using the Virus so much in tracks lately, cause it just gave it that edge it was missing.

Peace out.

it s really not far in the sample ,i m sure it s good enought for plenty of producers,it s at 96k and the chain add color making decap sound more analog/less like a plugin probably but for the price of the soundtoys bundle it s amazing what you get . when i was matchning the sound, major difference is the highs that sound silky on the vulture and a bit grainy on decap on this material .

it make me think to use decap for tickening on individual chanel and the vulture just on the master bus or when i need more saturation/distortion .

the wave arts tube saturator do the tube thing really nice too when keep subbtle ,better than decap or on par.

on the sample i should have sampled the dry beat so you guy get a idea of the mojo and goodnees there is, it was a totally weak digital beat at the begining ,it s still weak but there is really a big improvment in depth and tickness ,decap do this in a convaincing way

the 10 / 15% imporvments of hardware cost so much vs plugins it really make me think twice before buying others gears...specially a mastering eq that cost a arm and a legg and is clean, have to try one and see but i suspect if will be very close to top plugins as long as you keep it subbtle like in mastering .

nectarios what do you think? would you buy again a hardware va with plug like sylenth or other top plugins ? or buy analog synth with a plugin like diva? hardware become more and more a luxury imo even if 15 % + 15% + 15% of better quality in the end it s a part of what make the difference , the saving of cpu is also a avantage as some top plugins like diva take so much ressource

do you guys do the parallel processing with Decap or just use it as an insert in your chain?

Personally I've been getting great results with parallel processing, mix in a pretty Decapitate'd signal with the original etc. When I don't use it in parallel I'll only use it ~15-30% wet with mediumish levels of drive.            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe
