Hey B.E.N.
Hope your weekend was good too.
Yeah.. I know eventually the time will come when my music will be ready to be released... but all i really want at the moment is to see people smiling and jumping around to my music... and for them to feel the energy and emotion of the music itself.......
A lot of the psychedelic stuff that gets played and produced here in cape town ... these days... is losing the musical element.... and it's just becoming about "dance floor" tracks.... which is disappointing because .. yes.. . psytrance IS dancefloor music... but.. it's so much more too... it's music filled with passion...
but anyways... enough of that.
I know Rinkadink.... I've met him once or twice.. so I don't really know him that well on a personal level... but I definitely know his cool music!
Awesome producer! I love his sound...
really wacky psytrance...
his music always puts a silly grin on my face and makes me smile... he's got a cool groove.
He's definitely one of my favourite artists in SA...
Broken Toy is also really good... Tight production and groovy music...
There are some really talented producers down here... really cool guys producing some great music.
Peace dude.
  Mind my mind. |

Broken Toy is one of the guys from Damage who were part of Skazi's record label....
He broke away and is doing a solo thing called Broken Toy.
He has released on a few local labels...
I know he has been released on Afrogalactic Records here in Cape Town.
He has been released on Timecode Records too.
Awesome producer!
Peace!

Hey Ben.
Japan!
Wow ! That's awesome, dude!
Hope you have a cool time there!
Are you playing there this week?
My favourite style...? well .. i used to like the full on sound.... and still do... but it's just been very overplayed here in cape town... so i've got a bit sick of it... and a lot of it has just become a bit too formulaic for me... (if you know what i mean)
i've been enjoying the more progressive sounds lately... more psychedelic with more feeling and space in it...
also been loving the more chilled out vibes ...
anything from 75 BPM to 120 BPM....
but the style doesn't matter...to me.
as long as "that" feeling is in the music!
peace!

Hey Ben
Rex here from Nano Records SA/ Brazil . Im currently in Brazil promoting the label but i can give u a link that might shed some light for you regarding producers in SA - mainly Cape Town .
Obviously Id inform you about Nano's Producers first - mainly Hydrophonic( Killer Debut Albulm) , Corona ( Hot new talent - young guys) The Commercial Hippies ( or The Hippes as they are fondly referred to)Protoculture , Electric Ant , Cyan , Hydraglyph .... but take a look at www.nanorecords.co.uk and www.sanskara.co.za - a lot of artists profiles and some downloadable samples etc .And Apsydrop's been doing some good thigs too !
Anyway , I hope u have a great time in SA and Cape Town .
Keep up the good work.Maybe we will catch you in Brazil sometime ??? Its going off here m8 !!

yo ben! and ahoy to rex too!
so cool that you've got such a great attitude towards music! ... it's so true... good music is good music regardless of its genre...
especially the soul in the music... like you said.
music isn't music unless it's got that feeling in it.. that the artist put into it.... otherwise it's just pure entertainment... (which isn't bad sometimes...)
yeah.. i'm really digging the chilled out vibes so i will check out that guss till album....
Anyways!
Enjoy the Japanes vibes!
Wish I was there!!!
Peace!

Mike Indidginus and I will be combining our different projects to finish off the Vortex NYE festival with a live set spanning full-on dancefloor and ambient vibes; we're going to take you all on a 2-hour journey from 147 bpm right down to zero to make sure the festival ends with a smooth, gentle landing rather than an abrupt stop. We'll have live didgeridoo, percussion and lots of keyboard playing! Tracks will be from OOOD, Unconscious Collective, Voice of Cod, Indidginus and Open System - all projects that Mike and I are involved in. Much of the set will be unreleased music; you won't hear this anywhere else!
Big thanks go out to the Vortex crew for inviting us to play... and to South Africa itself for simply existing, and being the stunningly beautiful country that it is.
