• A modern Samhain celebration •
In pagan times, Samhain was the most sacred night on the calendar, signifying the beginning of winter and the start of a new year. It was one last celebration before winter set in - a time of new beginnings, the seed whispering under the soil. This was the night on which the Great Veil thinned, letting spirits, monsters, and faeries walk the Earth. Mortals wore costumes, and danced the night away around a bonfire, lest they be spotted and spirited away, never to be seen again.
Then the religions of fear came, and Samhain was turned into a pale shadow of its former self. What once had been of a celebration of life and rebirth became a festival of the dead. Now we intend to take this sacred night back and restore it to what it once was, with a few modern updates.
We may have replaced the traditional bonfire and drums for blacklights and a sound system, but the underlying ritual is the same. Come and cleanse your soul, move your body, and welcome in winter from the dance floor.

BTW, just to clarify, this is in no way related to Spook's party, except for the excellent choice of name. We didn't realize there was another event with the same name until after we'd started promotion and it was too late to change it. |

What's the scene like in Austin? Do you get and of the brand name artists? What is a typical party turn out as far as number of party goers? |

We've got a pretty good community going here, as long as you like it hard and dark. In the last year we've brought GOW, Horror Place, Amanda, Mubali, Ghreg on Earth, The Fractal Cowboys, Lauryn, and Entropy, plus our locals.
Our last big event, Tenebrae, had about 200 people. We're averaging at least one party a month, with occasional renegades in between. Had a really nice one last Thursday with about 50 people total (on an hour's notice). If you get a chance, you should definitely check out one of our events - it'll be worth the trip. |

i can back that up as an out of towner.....
Austin was a fun gig, and i enjoyed quite a bit, hope to go back some time, but its seems the texas sound has leaned a little to dark for me to fit in
but Texas liking big, heavy sounds , who woulda thought....... lol |
