thats even worst... well all can be done is to make sure they can't take them down... but to brake into a car is just a wanksta .

I don't know if anyone here knows the artist called severyn who makes backdrops... his entire collection was stolen at an event not to long ago... there was even a website about this to try and recover some of the lost pieces... over the past 8 years i've seen people try and steal backdrops to 1.6 meter high mushroomstructures that wouldn't even fit trough a door in once piece (about the only thing that stopped them too)...

Some things i've learned to pay attention to:
-use solid materials to fix things to walls, preferable steel wire, or several strong plastic straps.
-if possible put up the deco above places where people can reach them (people can't see stuff that's lower than the crowd anyway)
-when the party is over, make sure you are there the very moment and start taking everything down as soon as the room is cleared of visitors.
-inform the security about the presence of your work, and that it is never ever supposed to leave the venue... a big piece is hard to smuggle out... small ones aren't.

I run a traveling art exposition (seen at boom and various events in belgium), and have actually cought people trying to steal prints of luke brown while i was watching them... not only that, but because of my familiarity with the belgium crowd i indirectly knew the guy... cought him trying to undo the metal wires keeping things in place (impossible with your hands without hurting yourself). when i wanted to remove him from the venue his (and my) friends put him in his place... in the end he wasn't even kicked out but i'm quite sure his friends'll keep and eye on him... and i'll for sure do anything i can to make sure my stuff can't be taking without a small struggle.

It's incredibly naive to believe you can trust everyone at a venue. prevent everything you can...

the strangest thing is that the thief cant really use it anywhere else because the trance community is rather small and everyone knows everyone somehow.

I read about it... Also a friend told me that they stole the UV lights, everyone saw the guy taking them, but they thought he was from the organizers staff!

Tribe of Frog have backdrops and other decor stolen every time they do a party.

At Samothraki a few years back somebody drove their car to the chillout at the end of the festival and stole as much as they could while the Frog crew were asleep - including all the hand-made wooden butterflies that took weeks to make.

Ive never stolen any UV art before, but i have been tempted on many occations. Ive thought so many times "that would look so awesome in my room".

Wicked UV paintings are also very expensive. i have had to fight the urge to stuff one down my trousers on many occations...

But still you used your commen sense and didnt. - I cant belive that people would do such things. Where's the respect for the people who used alot of time and love to make these droppings ect? .. I can steal from a big corp, or used to as a younger person. But to steal from "real" people and especially from people who loves what you love.. Thats just sad.
