It's long time there wasn't any juicy survey here!
This time is Pantera vs Megadeth. Who thinks Pantera is the band and who thinks Megadeth is the band?

Allthough 'rust in peace' is masterpeace, i'd go for Pantera.

Whats your opinion people?          "From bitter searching of the heart

There is no way to compare the two. Short of the commercial periods in the two bands they covered completely different styles of metal.

If you want to compare which one covered more ground it's clearly Pantera as they went from 80's with Power Metal/Projects in the Jungle to something more commercial with Vulgar Display of Power then damn near death metal with Great Southern Trendkill.

Megadeth covered speed metal with their early stuff and commercial with Cryptic Writings.

If I were to compare the commercial periods of both bands, which I strongly dislike, I would definitely choose Pantera because the band still had Dimebag playing solos while Megadeth had lost Marty Friedman.

Megadeth for me.

Too bad he had to leave Metallica.
Imagine Kirk Hammet and Dave Mustaine as lead guitarists.

Megadeth for me too... My favorite albums:

Peace Sells... But Who's Buying
Rust in Peace
Countdown to Extinction
Youthanasia
and even Cryptic Writings

After that it is all crap IMO.
Respect!           .

...Dance like nobody's watching...

...I don't mind not going to Heaven, as long as they've got Coffee in Hell...

It's time to move on to the next step in the psychedelic revolution. We've reached a certain point, but we're not moving any more.

As far as we can see, Pantera in on the lead with a difference of only one vote.
If anyone would like to share his opinion of the subject -welcome!           "From bitter searching of the heart

RE......SPECT......WALK....WHAT.DID.YOU.SAY.

Pantera.

Dimebag/Diamond Darrel was one of the only lead guitarists to put some real blues influence into his out of this world solos.

Dave Mustaine is a sook. If he wasn't such a hopeless drunk he could of had a much more sucessful career with Metallica. Although he would of had to put up James and Lar's bullshit.           It's the bizzo.

Pantera no two ways about it, for me its plainly phil anselmo's vocals..but the lead guitarist of megadeth ( marty friedman ) is leagues ahead of everyone in the "heavy metal" genre.

But dimebag and anselmo rocks. :headbang:

when pantera started to play music-after the cowboys from hell lp I was over 20-like many ppl in this forum-that means that I didn't feel their music like the younger ones that were growing up with pantera's music
Thats the reason Why I prefer megadeth
They are closer to me
and their lyrics were straight to your face
no internal quests and such

check some mustaine back from 1986

Peace Sells lyrics

What do you mean,
"I don't believe in God"?
I talk to him everyday.
What do you mean,
"I don't support your system"?
I go to court when I have to.
What do you mean,
"I can't get to work on time"?
I got nothing better to do.
And, what do you mean,
"I don't pay my bills"?
Why do you think I'm broke? Huh?

If there is the new way,
I'll be the first in line.
But, it better work this time.

What do you mean,
"I hurt your feelings"?
I didn't know you had any feelings.
What do you mean,
"I ain't kind"?
I'm just not your kind.
What do you mean,
"I couldn't be president of the U.S.A."?
Tell me something, it's still

"We the people,"right?

Can you put a prise on peace?
Peace,
Peace sells...
Peace sells...
Peace sells..., but who's buying?
Peace sells..., but who's buying?
Peace sells..., but who's buying?
Peace sells..., but who's buying?
No, peace sells...

in opposition to

I'm Broken lyrics

I wonder if we'll smile in our coffins while loved ones
Mourn the day, the absence of our faces, living, laughing,
Eyes awake. Is this too much for them to take?
Too young for ones conclusion, the lifestyle won.
Such values you taught your son. That's how.
Look at me now. I'm broken.
Inherit my life.
One day we all will die, a cliched fact of life. Force fed
To make us heed. Inbred to sponge our bleed. Every
Warning, a leaking rubber, a poison apple for mingled
Blood. Too young for ones delusion the lifestyle cost
Venereal Mother embrace the los$. That's how
Look at you now. You're broken
Inherit your life.

Megadeth is more down to earth than pantera

but thats my opinion

and Thank the big G for dave leaving metallica
and delivering Rust in Peace to us
No lp by metallica can be compared with this cd
and I am a major hardcore Metallica fan
