Duty/taxes are, at worst, an extra 20 bucks or so... I looked into an order I made for just 6 CDs and the per-item cost was closer to $20 even but still, pretty good deals over there at saiko

I paid $74 duty/taxes on our last order! I'm going to look at Saiko Sounds from now on. And re the shipping, isn't the shipping cost based on weight? Therefore the more cd's the higher the shipping costs?

Damn! thatz a big cut for the gov... shipping is rather abstract - prices will differ based on whether you go with the courier or postal option. With the courier side (usually cheaper + faster, but will probably hit you with a duty charge) I don't know how they do it... shipping on 14 CDs was like $20 US... that ain't much. It all depends where the weight/size thresholds are for DHL, the carrier they use.

Saiko is definitely the best for all the add-on fees, but they don't always have everything in stock.           Load Universe into Cannon. Aim at Brain. Fire.

Yep, the downsides to saiko usually have to do with how soon they get new releases, and what's left in stock... it helps to build an order over time in small chunks so they hold on to what you want to grab. I personally don't mind waiting for new releases - its not as if I have any pressing need for stuff fresh off the press...

It's not getting the new stuff that's a problem, it's that getting a lot of stuff that has been out for a couple of months that is.           Load Universe into Cannon. Aim at Brain. Fire.

Hi Abatwa

I am managing the orders for psychonaut in Montreal. As you mention our prices turns out to be more expensive then some online shop but you also have other fees that you have watch for. First you have the shipping cost and second you have Canadian tax and customs. I find psyshop is not such a good option, they declare the real value on the invoice of the package so you cannot avoid tax and customs that can sometimes be a lot of $ (15% tax + sometimes extra 5$ of custom handling). Saiko Sound is a better option IMO because you can ask to send as promotional with no sales value, and you then avoid all taxes and customs. On the other end, as psyshop is declared it insured, if cds are lost or damaged you get your money back, with saiko sound if it's lost you get nothing. Another thing to watch for is the shipping company custom broker fee.

About Psychonaut we are a bit cheaper then psyshop (if you include tax and shipping) but a bit more expensive then saiko sound (considering you pay no tax with them). If you live in Toronto I don't see much reason to order from us as our main advantage is that you can actually come in the store and see what we have and have the option of listening the full album before buying and getting the cd right away. As Futhur also mentioned, Saiko Sound is more often out of stock because they order smaler quantities and that they rather restock often then order large quantities. This way you need to be quick to order with the good stuff because they run out of stock quite fast. They also receivee some release later compared to psyshop because psyshop actually prints some of the labels they sell.

good luck with your ordering

Metropolis is getting A LOT better. The owner is really trying to stay current with trance. It's at the corner of Queen and Spadina the entrance is beside the McDonalds walk up window.
Happy shopping!
