Are there any DJs who specialize in spinning the best of the oldskool? It seems from talk on this forum that there is a lot of nostalgia about the old tune... but most, if not all DJs seem to have a bad case of LAGS (latest and greatest syndrome) and would rather be stretched out on a rack than be caught playing an old tune.

So are there any DJs brave enough to play something from before 2001? Who are they? Maybe the solution to the Goa nostalgia is just to have the occasional oldies party..

I think it depends on the party type... I Play hard psychedelic music these days... but if I'm booked to play at a retro party or a Goa set at a suomi party then I can flash my old aces from long ago with a retro psychedelic set. at special parties off course

I still play old school Goa trance on special occasions... harmonic mixing + classic melodies is pure bliss however I do not make a specialty of it... not so many people in my region appreciate the old stuff or even know it.

in israel i know about few guys who always play oldies.. theres even a group who produce goa concept partyz
the problem is that the tunes sometimes reperts them selves ... i dont understand why..
i remember for example some simon posford's tunes playing almost every party.
i never heard California Sunshine track playingfor example... altough at some party few month ago.. (when Richard Trevor came to play old school ) one of the dj's played shakta moonweed - micronesia and it was cool!!
that party was the best party i ever been to.. every time when i look at the photos or remember it , a uniqe feeling grows in me...

old is gold

In Belgium you have a few djs that specialise in old school goa trance... one of them is me (Anoebis) of course, altough I mix this sound with "new school" tracks of course (old school music made with modern production)
In Holland you have Bor that does it once in a while and in Sweden you have dj Ukiro who can do it... in France dj Chai!

Recently I have been archiving old notes I have made throughout my time DJing... I ended up amassing quite a collection of set lists from years gone by. In case anyone is curious, there are many old school sets in the lot, and many stories which might be interesting:

We all still have our old music still, right from the party Rama and Steve promoted and played at with Mark Allen and Chrisbo in 1993, before Return To The Source started. Well up for it

OOOD is doing an old-school live set in Belgium in September, too.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering
