Hi everyone. I find that progressive psytrance is too much progressive and too little trance. I dont know how many of you would agree, but this my honest oppinion.
Where are all the layers? The strings, the melodies that makes trance trance?! Basically what Im looking for is recommendation... I need to know that this kind of trance still exists! I'll post a few links to tracks that I find trancy, yet still on the prog side. Anyway, the keywords here are trance, layers, melodies, buildups. I'll be happy to view anything you guys throw at me.
Things that intrique me:
Senzar - Before the Morning Sun (N.A.S.A. Remix)
Trance comes in many colors. A beat on a drum is also trance. Multiple layers of melodies and sequences are not IMO my kind of trance as it usually ruin my state of trance (I wont be able to get into one with too much chaos going on).

artists like Midimal, Ace Ventura, Day.Din, Neelix and all the others on labels like Iono, Spintwist, Blue Tunes, etc might be what you look for.
like i said many times on various forums/topics, i don't consider this kind of music psychedelic. but it certainly is melodic progressive trance music, not necessarily bad imo.
Early progressive psytrance as far I know and had lisened to it carried a heavy influence from techno and tribal elements.
The first album by Jaia, the second one from Son kite, the first and second of ticon, the two of spirallianz, all those albums lack layers. Still at parties that music was a total blast, so hypnotic and psychedelic that was hard to digest in big doses.
"The dedication to repetition — the search for nirvana in a single held tone or an endlessly cycling rhythm — is one of electronic music's noblest gestures."

and if you want "trance, layers, melodies, buildups" why not listen to new school goa like on Suntrip, Cronomi Records, etc.
To be honest, I care more about the trance part than the psychedelic part. The reason I don't go for goa is that I like the tempo down-low at around 128-135. Most goa I've heard starts at 140 and is usually faster. And thanks for the suggestions, but thats just the kind of stuff I want to avoid. At least the spintwist part. I used to like that label when I first got into progressive.
What I'm trying to avoid now is that generic off-beat bassline that just keeps on pumping. If we look at the track I posted... It evolves A LOT over time. Adding new melodies, new strings, new sounds all the time that fades to be just below the surface. So far, what I have realized is that what I think the music needs... is strings. They are essential to building good atmospheres, I think.
As I'm writing this post I am listening to the suggestions made in this tread. Thanks alot to everybody who contributed. I will return when I have heard it all.

Thanks. For some reason I've been overlooking those guys. Checking them out now.
Merkaba was a bit on the dark side, but good none the less. Ideally the tracks would be happy, layered and trancy.
Here's another track I like at the moment:
Anything by Flowjob, really. That guy has got talent.
Checkout Suntree, Ritmo, Zyce, Sideform other than the artists already mentioned. Some of my favourites are from labels like iono, iboga, plusquam, tesseract studio. I think its very psychedelic music.
I also try to make some. Check it out
