So Im looking at buying a piece of harware and Ive decided to go with a lead. Unfortunately there is no way to test either out before hand so just wondering your opinions on which is the better option or what you would go with. Im after a darker, grittier sound and most people seem to the prefer the 2x for that. Thoughts? Thanks in advance |

big difference between nord 2 and 2x
2x has shitty linear envelopes so no really punchy percussion
and looses a bit of its gritty ness due to theh igher grade digi to analogue outputs

so u sayin 2x s no worth for psytrance?
so if 2x hands down 3 but 2 s the better...but 2 has no more...so nord lead s no useful for psytrance ?
also considerin that u can use DISCOPRO to emulate the 2x....

i never a/b them but i never felt like using a nord 2 when using disco dsp.. they probably can do some sound close, but the disco don t sing like the nord 2, on some patch it s evident.
reaktor ,some tal synth (he don t like the filters on his nord so i think he tried to do something a bit similar with his own taste),dcam,es2 can make some leads close to nords too.

you could use pretty much any synth for Psy,
question is how long you gonnae be happy with it
i would go for the 2x before the 3
but would rather have a nord 2..(dont mention the hidden features)
then stick it into a Boss DS 1 with all the dials at 12 oclock.....super sweet leads
disco dsp does a half descent job of emulating the nord but its still a toy version really

I believe there's a Nord Lead patch for the modular somewhere on the web.
That should give you the best of both worlds.
Although I think the Nord 2X is more fun to work with, with all parameters directly available.
