for its most things from ninja tune - cinematic orchestra, funki porcini, journeyman, dj food, animals on wheels, etc. also bits of warp (boards of canada, aphex twin). and grand central (aim, only child, riton) and catskills records also do some great downtempo material, coming from a hiphop angle. plus always brian eno, obviously           http://www.dartrecordings.co.uk/

Yes, yes. wonderful.

Morcheeba makes Trip-hop, and Miles Davis makes Jazz. But both make wonderful music.

As for ambient, here it goes: Caul, Raison D'ętre, Necrophorus, Boards of Canada, Residents, Shinjuku Thief, Zakir Hussain, Schloss Tegal, Robert Rich, Subterranean Source, Yoshikazu Iwamoto, Alio Die, Geir Jenssen, Klaus Schulze, Atom Heart.

Cheers.

You might like alucidnation, chilled by nature and laura b - all on big chill records - the Ambient Soho compilation, Fragile State, Elektrolux's Space Night compilations, and Ralph Myerz & the Jack Herren Band. And if it is still available - a UK band called Pan, from Brighton, from the early 90s released a nice album.

I have a remix of Kate Bush which sounds a lot like the Orb's Close Encounters - that I think you would love.
