Hi, people

Music made by bands/artists like DJ TIESTO, Pulsedriver, Neo Cortex, Gigi D’Agostinio, DJ DEAN, etc…

Is this TRANCE ? many people says no, they say it is EURO-DANCE, and I don’t know much about music.

Is EURO-DANCE a subtype of trance ? because many songs have trance tones and sounds, electronic effects and BASS…

psy trance is different           "Cause we're living in a world of RULES breaking us down when they all should let us be."

If you ask me, i would definately say Yes, its Trance, kind of euro-trance or simplier > commercial trance.
Euro-Dance is dead man. There is no eurodance nowadays beeing produced Sad to say that, seriously.
Eurodance is past century. Stuff like masterboy, modo, dj bobo, basic element, 2 unlimited, corona, la bouche, haddaway doesnt longer exists in the condition that it had place back in early and middle 90's.

Then, it is definitely trance, but I was mocked out loud in another forum for saying that Tiesto or Crazy Frog, and such others, were a sub type of trance, but as I said I’m not an expert just a vulgar fan

This is my type of music, with lots of sound effects and bass. Which forum do you recommend in here to obtain the latest releases ?

Yeah you're right Delta.. thats a buncha euro style trance. All that kinda music reminds of ATB all those fluffy people!! No offence.. guess i've 'grown' past that kinda music!
Start off with some Zik, Derango, Hefty output!!
I aint responsible for any mental instabilities after!!
Boom.

Which type of trance is Zik, Derango or Hefty output ?

sorry all my questions, don't know much about trance, what I know is that I don't like a style of music with same tones like some psy.

I like many electronic sound effects, BASS, progressive tones...like many musics of Tiesto or Pulsedriver

can you put me in the right direction ?

Hehe.. ok, well tunes made by zik etc are more on the 'darker' side of trance. If your fond of Tiesto and the likes - you should try listening to Eskimo, Visual contact, Sesto sento, Dynamo, Sharigrama etc. These are morning artists. Very mellow and full of energy! I heard alot of Hallucinogen before I became fond of psy trance. Mayb you should get some of their music as well.
Happy Listening!

the best thing is u find out what do u like, i mean, try 2 get some releases, goa trance, full on, dark, progressive even chill out, and see by yourself what do u like, what kind of sonoritie u enjoy the most.
and if u use the search engine and type these kind of "categories" u will find lots of good help, in helping u 2 discover thix beautifull psychedelic music .           ...

"All" 4/4 beats pr minute is trance/dance music. Tiesto's Magik compilations are indeed trance, or euro-trance as it later got labeled as. Euro-dance (89-02) is just a bad bad bi-product of Tiesto's music (96-00). But then again. Trance is just a "bad" bi-product of Goa-trance (92-99) which gave birth to psy-trance which then again, gave birth to Full-on, and full-on had a baby called psy-dance.. hmm.. Or maybe euro-trance is a a bi-product of euro-dance?... No no.. Other way around. Euro-dance came from euro-trance. But "dance" music was before euro-trance.. hmm. or how was it again? I'm confused by my own words

..

All I know.. Paul Oakenfold changed alot in the late 90ths when he played uncheese'd music called progressive-trance (USA-trance(?)), or Goa-trance. He took "trance" to a new stage i guess. (commercialized, yes, but still)

i would not call tiesto for euro trance? i think its what we here in denmark is called Melodic Trance(armin van buuren, ferry corsten and so)... the rest are kind of euro-hard-Italo-trance stuff

if you liek tiesto and i would recommend that you listen to Yahel & Vibe Tribe          www.myspace.com/trollatcrackwhoremodels

Yahel is definitely the right choice if U like Tiesto, and Eyal Barkan too (if he is still producing)

BTW Kire Naj is right with the 4/4 beats and the connection with trance. Everything that is characterised with that beat is either dance or trance.

By listening to some different styles in trance you will in the and find the style that u like the most or the one that likes u the most (i dont know), and maybe one day you'll start dj-ing or producing the very same style you liked the most.

Speaking of "trance" or electronic dance music. The england boom in the fresh 90thies. You know, Orbital, Leftfield (came later, but still) Underworld, Massive Attack, Prodigy and so on. Really shows how good music can be (and how good it used to be). Alot of the new psyacts, or full-on acts should learn a thing or two from these pioneers of intelligent electronic dance music.

Yeah I think you should finally listen to some Yahel, maybe you can like too some psygressive sound, wich means something between progressive and full-on wich can be really good produced sound in a way you can maybe like.

For the rest I'm with Troll, Tiesto and van buuren, Safri Duo, cosmic gate and so on are melodic mainstream trance, in Italy you have a lot of hardstyle wich is a little more like a mix of hardcore and mainstream trance.
You also have some commercial mainstream trance like Quinto and in Switzerland you have a lots of artist like Dj Tatiana, Mind-X, and many other who put some kind of hard trance, mixed with melodic, progressive and hardstyle stuff wich are more like Beny Benassi if you want.
Stuff like Gigi D'agostino, eiffel 69, and so on are dance music for me, but there are people who call dance music everything is on 4/4 beat but I don't like at all, because you finish to put in dance music artist like fatboyslim and chemical brothers who are years forward faced to gigi and company .

Psytrance is other stuff it is divided in differents subgenres wich a lots of times are a lots differents one with the other and often come from differents origin( music or scene) too, there is a lots of full-on wich is a little bit the son of the old goa sound and sounds more melodic and often track are similar one with the other( I mean is a high closed standard genre, it doesn't differs a lot), then there is dark or night or psy trance wich somebody like to call deathtrance because is faster and if you want harder with less melody and more noise and sounds and definetely more psychedelic but with differents feelings and then there is progressive, wich can be more house oriented or atmospheric or experimental, often also with a high standard production, then there are also some minimal style or psytech style that are evolving...

Finally you can surely find in psytrance something you will like I have no doubt, but you'll need to listen to a lots of music before knowing wich one you like more
