If you get a chance, go to Philly - Onnomon (he's a producer, not a DJ) makes some of the best psytrance out there right now, imo. It's hard to classify - slower (138-143 bpm), but extremely psychedelic and beautifully crafted music. He released a few tracks on Soular records (under his own name and collaborations with Deeper in Zen, Mindwarped, and others) and his full length should be coming in the spring.
I saw him several times last summer, all outdoors, though. At Burning Man he totally blew me away.

Surrender, help this dude out.

I found some used Ozric CD's around Alphabet city (?) on A street I think. There are tons of cd stores on this one strip. Then we walked and had some amazing Indian food right down the street.

There is a psytrance shop too, Home of Trance, but they are really expensive. It's in the East village. Go to their website:

satellite records ---> its on bowery below houston st somewhere.

home of trance---> in the info section but here it is again st. marks pl. between 1st ave. and ave A.

also kims video has some good stuff. locations throughout the village. theres a big one on st. marks though.

ye on ave A between like 9th and 8th there are some really cool tiny stores and a great cafe called alt cafe.

best bet is to wander around east village, west village, and the lower east side. Best independant record stores are there for both cd and vinyl.

hope this helps

there ya go. I knew you'd get someone who actually knows what they are talking about to help you out. St. Marks was the street I was thinking of.           Both teams played hard

There's also a store called 'Other Music' right across the street from Tower records in the Village (around Broadway and E. 3-5th st?) They don't have much dance music or trance, but their selection of eclectic stuff, including mucho electronic weirdness is really nice.

Some more cool stores also on/off Bleeker Street by Washington Square. I like Generation Records for their used CD selection.

I would just wander around the Village and explore... lots of cool stuff in the most random places. It's a nice place now, actually. No more gutter punks, junkies, or GG Allin.
