I know you guys hate threads asking about parties, but we're trying to get down on New Years and I can't seem to find any parties!

Jeto: Thanks for the info but sadly I'll be in Canada then.

Olawanpi: Awesome. I figured that if anyone was going to do it it'd be tantra @ somarts. Retro party with music from the 90's? I'm intrigued!

I played a few old-school sets, once at a Mindful Party, & once at a Analog Army party.

I still have my collection of old goa trance from 96'

old is gold.

old is gold but i dunno about limiting it just to the 90's.
in my opinion, within the realm and history of so called "psy-trance," any thing pre 2004 is pretty much old-school
a lot of the best stuff came out around '00 and '01... all my favorite infected mushroom, delta, x-dream, et. al....

Yeah now that I think about it, it is pretty much a rarity to hear the old school stuff at parties these days. I've heard a few older tunes mixed in here and there, but an entire old school set would be rad!

old school party is a great idea for the people who were around then , maybe it will bring some folks back out to the crowd that we have been missing here in SF. im not so sure about the new crowd but i think they need to be exposed to the roots. around last new years i brought out all my favorite records from '97 to do a 10 years on retro set . i guess this year could be the best of '98. the problem for me is to have to hear those classics with walls keeping the sound in, they deserve the open sky. either way my 2000+ goa records are still waiting for that epic week long set that i would love to play some day, or whenever i get the chance to bring them out.           www.geomagnetic.tv/artists/random.html

a lot of the mid- to late-90s stuff is great (it got really good right before the mnml wave hit full-force). While i have a sentimental attachment to early 90s Goa, it often doesn't measure up to later stuff in terms of production and overall complexity. This is my opinion, of course.

in any case, good luck and have a blast!
          ..it's just another party..
