great times ahead ! my brain is alive with the goa sounds that ive been blasting in to it preparing my set for midnight NYE!! some of the hardest tracks to dj, ive made a super intricate non linear masterpiece mix of goa from 1997 to 1998. together these songs go into a seamless flowing psychedelic river of bubbling acid. hearing these songs brings me right back to the day that i bought them, and first tested them on the dance floors of 10 years ago. once its perfected i will list and record the set for all.           www.geomagnetic.tv/artists/random.html

This is gonna be a night to remember. Everyone put your ears to the underground for the after-party!

Random, can't wait to hear that mix. Sounds totally killer.

wasup guys ..although i'm a little late in the conversation. i've to say that the some arts multiroom set up is freakin awesome i had a great time at the lovefest afterparty the chill-outdoor thing was really cool as well..but recently i was at the gingerbread house party in sf and couldn't really connect to the full on scene in there.
i'm from india and have stomped in goa a lot, but i couldn't find myself appreciating the 'goatrance' being played there it seemed like very techno-ish extacy music..it just wasn't that spiritual loop that goatrance is....although the chill sessions were damn good

So where were you Johan? You missed a good one! The DJ's mostly rocked it with old goa tunes and the sound in the trance room turned out excellent. Even the sound in the big room was good, esp. during Freak when the room was densely packed. Pascal did a great job in the Freak room and the sound curtains hung all over the back of the building helped a lot. later in the night when the crowd thinned out, you could hear how much the big crowd eliminated the bass echo.

You missed a good one. We missed you on the dancefloor.

What an awesome time! This was the best indoor event I have attended in YEARS. Let's hope this party sets the precedence for 2008 events!
Here's my photos from the night.

Thank you John & all the dj's that threw down my ol' school favorites!

Yeah man im still bummed i couldnt make it up for this.

I was heading back from central Oregon so I'd been in the car for 11+ hours by the time I got back to the 831...

I had a REALLY crappy new year celebration...

but last years bash w/ Entropy was soooo good~! I just had to dig deep and find those feelings again.

Thanks man!!!

Til next time.

it was a truly epic new years with lots of party people enjoying the goa, people that don't always find out about our underground psy scene here in SF, they were all having a blast to the sounds that we loved 10 years ago. . all the djs rocked at the whole party though, the multi genre idea works great to bring all the freaks together, though it was way crowded, more so when the bars were going. all the rooms were decked out or lit up great, people were in costumes and it was really all ages together. playing goa records again was a dream come true. my first record skipped so bad i had to stop it and goto the other side, but no problems once i got the weight right on the needle . vinyl still sounded great, better than any other medium played in the goa room for warmth and ear pleasure. i brought in the new years playing "Shiva Devotional" by Shidapou , that laser kick never sounded so old, but its good. the set will be recorded soon for all to enjoy. thanks John and all the people and crews involved. i think somarts will always be a special location, that we are lucky to be able to use.
till the next one! peace

wow
havent seen that much people in somarts
and what an event really beautiful decorated
congrats to the deco teams
the sounds was great too
you could hardly hear the other rooms
very good job on that one too

Soundwise what i heard from the different rooms seems
to have been what people wanted
good music and phat beats to dance your ass off
freak nasty played a 15min version of manu chao king of the bongo that rocked really the crowd
in the tranceroom all the djs seemed to have a lot of fun playing the oldies and goodies
and the people had a great time dancing to this collection of awesome tunes from the 90s
i really enjoyed to play again some of this music
in our scene tracks are so fast lived one season and they are gone normally and there was soooo much good music over the last allmost 20years
it was a real pleasure to rock the house with green nuns of the revolution or cosmosis and xdream slinky wizard
and so on and on and on

and also people seem to enjoy to have dj sets sometimes
so when i have time i will record the djset from new years
and put it online

hopefully there is gonna be more retro parties
