The free track sounds awesome, much more in tune to the earlier Shpongle than the last album IMO. Plan to get the vinyl shortly.

I know this is blasphemy around these parts of the internet, but nowadays Shpongle just annoys the shit out of me. I listened to that new track and its brilliantly produced and all that and full of Shpongleness, but I can`t take it anymore. Too much, it makes me want to find the next shop that sells incense and esoteric crap and destroy it with a chainsaw while purchasing a large amount of Monsanto stock and chewing on the fins of baby dolphins. Too much doodling, too much hippie, too much hairy armpits...

But, carry on, sorry for the short disruption of this program...

Yeah I haven't been able to listen to the last album all the way through, it's just came across to me as being messy and unfinished.

This one IMO sounds a bit more back to the psychedelic trance roots of Shpongle. I'll buy it just to have all the albums, and give it a listen. It's better than most other psy chill stuff, Ultimae Records for example just bores the crap out of me nowadays. Seriously. Every Ultimae release makes me think of nerdy hipsters sitting in apartments made of stainless steel and floor to ceiling glass being pretentious over $30 cups of coffee.

Give me some cheap chai & a Shpongle cd over that any time!           Cuntus Maximus.

i agree that the last sphongle was the worst so far. still you find some gems in there. its not as coherent as it was on the first two albums, but as mike said.. still better than lots out there if you take some tracks out of it. its not fresher than the moanin snow anymore but still those chaps know how to do it right and stay psychedelic..

totally agree about ultimae. most of the hyperpolished amibiances they release now is elevator music and as sterile as an operating theatre.           http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/stereofeld-frequenzwechsel

I like these guys on lifestream and good production they make but music is wack.Havent been able to listen to their music for years tbh. In the ninetees they were great and the next few albums were great as well than it has lost it charme for me.           https://soundcloud.com/shivagarden

Honeslty i didn't dig that much this nw track, hope the album has better tracks.

I love all Shpongle albums, each one has different things to offer. Shpongleland had very good tracks (tracks 1, 3, 4,5 and 6) while others very weak (2, 7 and 8).

Unlike the last Younger brother album which was a total mess.           "The dedication to repetition — the search for nirvana in a single held tone or an endlessly cycling rhythm — is one of electronic music's noblest gestures."

[hipster]Shpongle is played out[/hipster]

seriously though, this just sounds like more of the same. not that I blame mr. Simon P. If I had a formula that was working as well as Shpongle I would also just give the fans more of what they want and cash in hard. He's got other projects and can always drop shpongle to do something original if he ever gets tired of it. So yeah, more power to him; I'm just glad to see that psychill has made it this far.

but yeah, the new song sounds pretty boring and contrived to me. it sounds like its trying to recapture the best of Are you Shpongled? and Tales of the Inexpressible, but coming up short. i don't think those two albums could be topped, really, especially the first one.

I'd also like to add the irony is not lost on me that I'm on a trance forum saying that a group's new music is "more of the same." lol. Hallucinogen helped start a genre that has been essentially more of the same for over 10 years now.          http://soundcloud.com/rob-vector

This new trend with frontstage vocalists seems to have taken over both Shpongle and Younger Brother projects. Not a big fan. It's nice though to hear Raja Ram rocking the flute like the early days.

Not going to preorder but waiting eagerly to hear the rest, it's Shpongle after all.

Shpongle (in the US anyway) has been growing a huge new following lately and this album will give their new fans more new music. It's smart and ensures a solid and growing fan base, much like rock bands that endure over time.

Like everyone else here I'm not blown away by this track. I'd still like to see them put all other projects aside and make one 90 minute Shpongle journey and really push their creativity (I'm saying 'their' cos I expect it more than just Simon involved).
