ayyyy... great one whiterabbit
im really eager to see what suntrip is cooking for us - there are two artists which i really want to hear their debut album - one which constantly kept me amazed which is Radical Distortion (a more aggressive side of goa, but really oozing psychedelia) - his debut album should be soon out on suntrip, and the other one is Artifact 303 (will never forget his track feelings on Opus Iridium).
its great to see more and more new artists heading to the resurrection of goa trance - in that manner 2009 has been an excellent year so far

goaren, this one is for you broda. This is some serious pumping goa:
Nostalgia is a funny thing. It takes time to develop. I'll own up to the fact that I never really got into Etnica back in the day. Their music seemed kind of indistinct and poorly produced. But it grew on me, and now I love their old work. I mention this because you don't always have a positive impression of music you haven't experienced before... your response to music is shaped by your experiences with it--the set and setting, your mental state, where you're at in your life. If you really think about it... how you listen to music is almost as important as what you listen to. So ask yourself: how did you listen to music ten years ago? How do you listen now? How much music did you have access to back then? And now, are you overwhelmed by it? I could go on developing this point but I will just leave it here. Think about it. Personally, I think we have access to some absolutely wonderful music today...
Basilisk, that's one of the most sensible and wise posts I have ever read on a music forum.
It's something I always wanted to write and talk about, but never found the right words. And there, you've said it. Marvellous.

altho i do agree with this opinion to some extent, i have to say that along with the accesibilty we as listeners gained through the years, so did producers (or so called producers) gained access to software which enabled them to create this type of music, and combining both these elements you get todays situation, where you have an abundance of sources to get the music, but a HUGE percentage of that music is pure and utter crap or ill be nice and say - experiments from new producers who dont really know and understand how to create music, but can easily push a couple of buttons and imitate what theyve seen/heard somewhere else - whereas 15 years ago you actually had to understand music to create it (and in my opinion had to be more creative and add to that the mysticism/cuoriosity/spirtualism that the 90's and the introduction of this music had around them) - and thats the reason goa trance simply stands out and maybe the nostalgic factor is a part of it, but atleast from my point of view its a minor part and the music that it was is the majority.
and o ya before i get punted for saying what ive said about 15 years ago - yes there was software and some artists did use it (impulse tracker for instance) - but those who used it and actually made it sound good were very few... and the rest was... well they have a special genre named after it - "nitzhonot"
I've always liked Goa quite a bit more than Full-on. Been listening to Psy since mid 90's.
There's probably many new school artists I haven't heard yet. Got to read this thread with time and check out all the links and clips. I've only listened to all Suntrip Record's releases so far this year.
Have to say, I have really liked all of them. Filteria and Afgin are both amazing 9/10, but for me, Merr0w takes the cake.
Born Underwater is almost 10/10. Nice balance of crunchy climaxes and trippy melodies.
This is not on Born Underwater, but really a great track. I might get this compilation, just for this Merr0w track.
