Heads up that a new version of psy-kick is out.
It now works on layered kick drum synthesis, using custom written sample accurate envelope generators for the most accurate possible clean uppers on the click, and silky smooth sub releases.
Knob controls are accurate to the hz, and sub-milisecond accuracy.
Retriggering issues are completely resolved.
examples of sound quality - should you be curious (these are tracks I am currently working on) - both have been slightly EQ'd, and not compressed (it should also be noted I work exclusively on headphones at the moment, so apologies for any mix level wonkiness you may encounter):

I loved the last version sooooo much.
I'd go as far to say it's improved my productions infinitley.
Looking forward to seeing what the new guy can do

Manual?
Lets see.
It has a section for click and sub
One in the upper half.
One in the lower half.
In the click half - at the top is just an AHDR envelope controlling volume. Nothing complex there.
Beneath that, is a three stage envelope controlling pitch. Freq 1, 2, and 3, and frequencies which a sine wave will hit, which produce the 'click' of the kick drum.
The 'freq time' controls establish how long it takes to get from one frequency to another. the 'freq curve' controls the shape of the line between the two freq points, if it were a graph.
So, on a curve of zero, you could draw a straight line between one freq and the next on a graph, with a curve of 100, you will get a rapidly falling dip followed by a gentle tail off to the next freq, at -100, the curve falls gently to start with, then tails of very rapidly.
That is all the click section does.
The sub section does the same, only it only has one section.
Frequency is always presented in hz, and time is always presented in milliseconds, although you will find that it is possible to more precisely tweak than this resolution by holding down the left shift button and tweaking at the same time.
So, two oscilators, and 4 envelopes very precisely tailored to the exact needs of the job at hand.
Not really a lot to get your head around, considering the importance of the job it does!
