I have Adam a7x and they are good for mixing.. shows you problems very well.. and you dont need anything better in untreated room anyway... so I would say get them and spend the rest on the room treatment...           .

Yeah, I dunno why they call the Behringer "Truth", I work with those very speakers and am very much experiencing the limits of them... I really need nice speakers...           Upavas - Here And Now (Sangoma Rec.) new EP out Oct.29th, get it here:

o300 would be fairly nice for 1500 bucks/pair ^^

anyone considered tannoys precision series? i´d give the 8d a go

anyways, there is sure interesting stuff in that range if you pay that for each ^^

event and mackie might be another solution, for that money, just keep away your fingers from behringer, dynaudio, m- audio and such.

often heared genelec which i think only sound quite nice if you pay near/above the price range of an O300, let´s say imao in lower price range they´re simply not worth the money as "stand alone" monitoring system, anyways a nice solution for secondary monitoring ^^

dont forget about the treatment

have fun, cheers

Can you be more specific about Dynaudio?           Upavas - Here And Now (Sangoma Rec.) new EP out Oct.29th, get it here:

Sorry been busy, couldn't reply earlier. Agreed that the BM6A's are not a good value now, i was talking about the old price before the new model was launched.

For your budget i would consider Focal Solo's or Twins if you can add a little more. K+H 0300, could also come in this budget if you're willing to buy used.

Event Opals might also be worth checking out. Normally i would recommend the ADAM SX series as well but they seem to be getting a lot of rattling issues, so be wary of that.

Other than that i guess PMC might also be worth auditioning. You're lucky that you have a chance to test monitors before buying them, i've bought all of mine based on research as there's not a single pro-audio dealer in my country.          http://www.soundcloud.com/getafixmusic

I have heard of those Adams rattling issues as well, from several sources.

Will check out event opals and the focals for sure. The heck, I will check them all out

hey upavas.. have u made up ur mind?

i think i have made mine... i ve choosen the focal solo 6 be after a long research in the internet..sadly i cant test them coz im in brazil and i gotta ask someone to bring it to me so i dont need to pay the tax importation so it had to be based on research..

but i think it wont go wrong with that one.... everybody talks so nice of this monitors...

the only downside is that i havent heard anyone usin them for psytrance.... so i dont know how s it good for the low ends for psytrance...( eletronic music in general ) coz its a 6" box... but i dont think it ll problem and we can always add a sub later on... well for me i ll have to wait at least more 3 years to get teh sub lol but i think those box are rox...

Hey Vermeee, still saving up for a pair, not sure yet, but likely going to check some speakers out next week. Been pretty busy here getting my first ambient album on it's way + writing a second one per request starting to write a dance album as well + a job...... all good things always come at once it seems, hopefully I will be able to buya nice pair of speakers in October... wish me good luck, but if you wait a while and want my input I will check it out soon man...

I think any speaker under 7" diameter should be avoided as a rule of thumb though... someone please correct me if I am wrong here...          Upavas - Here And Now (Sangoma Rec.) new EP out Oct.29th, get it here:

i think orgy have them, to me the focal have a bit of a strange sound it s not everyone taste, but i guess they are good mixing tools ! and yes depending the room you will probably need a sub if you wanna have a better lowend but you can choose a other one than focal.
personally i m still intrested in genelec monitors, they should work great for electronic music i think but never mixed on them

@Vermeee
there are some artist who uses focal, for example vibe tribe uses/used the focal twins.

as i said in my thread... i have not much experience with monitors.
i´ve had the yamaha hs50m, great speakers without bass. i spended 1700€ for the focal solos and i really enjoy them... they have a big bass.
but imo the yamaha hs80m would have done the "same" job for less money. (of course you cant compare them...)

i adjusted my ears quick to the focals (very pleasing to mix), and what changed is the quantity of re-checking mixes on other systems, as well as the improvement of mixing basssounds. whats still a problem for me is the volume of certain sounds, but that should be my ears, ppl alwasy tell me to make the leads louder, but i dont like if they cover the whole kick/bass (like in the most newer productions).
note that i treated my room at the same time as i got my focals, but i listened to the focals in my untreated room too.
if you are deciding to pay so much money for speakers,
and you are not treating your room...
its like feeding pigs with the best steak.
primary roomtreatment makes speakers what they are...
the whole discussion is based on roomtreatment lol.

if you have the money, they are a good decision.
like Vermeee mentioned above, the internet seems
to love the focals! i also did alot of research, and it
seems they are the best in their price range.

I bought a pair of Focal Solo 6 few months ago and I really enjoy them !!

Focal's sound is particular (Comparing to my previous monitors Dynaudio BM5) but after few months using the Solo, I'm now used to it and would not change for anything else : Low ends are perfect to me, and after spending time on my mixes, i've now used this the Medium and High ends of the Solos.

As Orgy did, I treated my room (3x4) at the time as I bought my focals, and this is an important part of the good sound's quality of the monitors.

For that range of price, I think they are a good decision, whereas you've keep the money for the room threatment.

i think the aim of focal was to make very accurate monitors that still sound very pleasant at the same time .
