What don't you like about the O300s? What would you be looking for in your next monitors that the O300s don't give you?

I'm considering a pair of PMC TB2S-AII, and would be interested in hearing comments from anyone who is familiar with them. The O300s are also intriguing.

Well the 0300's are great monitors no doubt but they can be a little uninspiring to work on since they're so flat. I think the high end is also a little on the soft side for my tastes. They also tend to max out pretty quickly due to the built in limiter. It helps to use them with the sub, which is bloody expensive.

I'm selling mine really cheap ($2800, i paid around $4400 for them) as i'm not really making much music nowadays and can't justify keeping them. So not really looking for an improvement as such. Will probably get some cheaper nearfields, maybe Focals or BM6A MKI's. So it will be a step down rather then a step up. I've already downgraded from Barefoots.

Heard good things about the PMC's, but i think they're a little bass light.

all dynaudio models i have heard (bm 5a/6a, focus 110 a and larger passive hifi models up to several k€) are on the somewhat softer side of the speaker range and for my taste to "musically" oder "pleasing" for honest mixing purposes..
but they are really and again really fun to work with and to listen to as long as you do not need to hear every microdetail..           http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/stereofeld-frequenzwechsel

I've used both Dyaudio BM5A & 6A (MKI's). IMO, BM6A MKI's are one of the best bang for the buck monitors, competing with monitors well above their price range. 5A's are not that great, if you're gonna get Dynaudio's go for the 6A MKI.           http://www.soundcloud.com/getafixmusic

bhphotovideo.com still has the MKI's in stock, they're pretty expensive though. Keep a look out on the gearslutz classifieds section. I sold my 6A MKI's for $900.           http://www.soundcloud.com/getafixmusic

Thank you Get-a-fix. You seem to know some stuff about speakers.

So I am torn, I keep hearing from friends that I really should get better speakers, and I know they are right, hell I am even seriously considering to sell my desktop evolver.
Fact is that I want speakers that are good as far as detail is concerned, I really want to hear everything possible. In that price range !

I do have an old and actually pretty decent m audio 12 inch sub that is just fine, so really only needing the monitors...

Well i have been through a lot of monitors:
KRK Rokit 6 -> Dynaudio BM5A -> Dynaudio BM6A -> K+H 0300 -> Barefoot MM27 and then back again to 0300.

Everytime i upgraded my mixes improved as it allowed me to hear everything better and make better judgements regarding eq, levels etc.

Upavas,

If you haven't treated your room already i would suggest you put that as a priority ahead of monitors, as even the best monitors won't work in a untreated room.

Once that is taken care of, well the rest depends on your budget. At one point i was very passionate about music and it was my priority so i went crazy and spent $8000 on monitors. Now i have a son and a new business to run so i'm downgrading as i don't have much time for music.

So if you can give me your budget and your room size i can try and suggest some good monitors in your price range.

room is a good 3 meters wide and 4 metres long, some but not enough room treatment, I know I know... budget, no more than $1500 these days money is tight... but lets say up to $2000.

Thank you my man! It is well appreciated!           Upavas - Here And Now (Sangoma Rec.) new EP out Oct.29th, get it here:

Upavas can you listen to them before buying? cause imo at your price all monitors are good enought and it s more about personal taste..learning them and the room.. number one hit tunes and brillant mixs are made with less expensive monitors than that .it s really about finding monitors that suit you.

@ Pom, there is no way I would buy monitors without listening to them, I would however say that in the given price range there are drastic differences.

Has anyone tried these?

yeah i have a pair with the sub, sound like a mix of dynaudio bm6a and adam p22 (when used with the sub) . the sound is a bit more hifi than adam,a bit more pleasing to write tune but still plenty of details and not as soft as bm6a ,it s a bit best of both words to me but i m not sure i would recomend them as one and only pair.
i guess it s possible to get as good mix maybe even better than on bm6a or adam p22 with them (imo the mids are better than bm6a and the highs and low should translate as good too) but i wouldnt recomend them as one and only pair, cause they are a bit small in size and sound, not much dynamic, depth (like some other focal monitors) it translate good but cause of this lack of depth it feel a bit overpriced..maybe it s juste me and my taste for that price i expect bigger sound(with the sub it s ok but i dont like to use the sub much, just for checking the deep low and balance of the mix).
have a listen to them you might find them sounding a bit small like me compared to monitors in the 1500/2000 euro price range but they translate great and a pleasure to use. in gearslutz there is thread with a guy making better mix on the cms65 than on the kh 0300 for example , monitors are so personal only way to know if they would work is to try them.. the focal solo or twins might be good too.imo check bm6a adam focal and maybe genelec and some other brands too but be sure to check the 3 first ones (personaly i dont really agrre with get a fix i find the bm6a overpriced compared to adam and focal,1200/1500 dollar was fine for bm6a ,not their current price ).
strengh and weakneww of bm6a even if the mix is not great you can still enjoy it and write tunes, on adam you have to fix everyhting to enjoy so it get harder to write tunes and enjoy them depending your skill of production, they are more mixing tools.

Well, the mix is what is most important to me and how it translates to different sound systems. Thank ou for the detailed comment man, very helpful .

your welcom mate , imo they all transalte great after some time...personally i would be happy with any of these just the cms are maybe a bit small , like they say in the sell speach when space is restricted (small room, post production...) and accuracy is needed the cms are really good .
but again it s really taste, some like them more than more expensive focal for example, it s same for adam, noisia have the s3a and the p22 and like more the p22 for example, price don t mean everyhting..it happen some artists with crappy speakers have the best sound in some va while other use monitors costing 3 times the price.
my friend worked on some shakira and other very big names mixs and use monitors that cost less than 1000 euros..
some guy had better sound than me using berhinger thuth..
finding monitors that suit us can be hard and it s very personal imo.
