Universal Religion 2013 Review

Great setup and organizing by the UR crew this time also.

Location was awesome, The place really made the party come alive. Beautiful views, awesome weather cycles giving us awe struck doses of mother nature's colourful moods.

Decor: Good job on the decor and enough people had put their own decor on small scale near the tents. On the whole it was pretty good and came alive in neon colours at night.

Food was deent enough, they had burgers, pizza, pasta, kebabs. Good enough selection for a festival.

Sound system was up to par and well tuned which is the most important thing in my opinion.

I will reserve my comments to the night music played.

First Night:
Trailoka vs Fraktal Sequence: Fraktal Sequence was clearly the more experienced DJ and played 95% of the set. Clean mixing is definitely his forte, nice set.

Hydropanic: His set was the best one on the first night. Powerful tracks, clean mixes. Quite a good set from his side.
Really dig his tunes too.

Second Night:
Sgary played a really nice set. The story of his set as a whole was beautiful, start to finish. Concept of tracks was good and mixing was spot on. Really liked his set.

One person played a twilight set, was pretty decent. I am not too sure who the artist was.

Ajja opened at 5 am this was the highlight for me. Ajja is a class act as usual and played a powerful set and i could see the beautiful sun rising listening to his powerful tunes and all assuring smiles he gives out while on the decks.

Third Night:
If im not mistaken Daksinmurti played a nice set to open the night. Nice mixing/ well though out hand picked tracklist.

Ajja: Played a massive 3 hour set. Beautiful masterpiece set start to finish. Stomped my life out and since it was final night of the festival the crowd was going berserk. One of the best sets of the festival according to me.

The set played after ajja was the best set of the festival for me hands down. A very unique sound which had a lot of goa sound influence and was just really refreshing to hear as all the tracks had its own vibe. I think the artist was whiptongue from looney moon. Can someone who was at the fest confirm this. Mind blowing set and a great surprise.

Morning music lot of artist's not particularly my taste and but the vibes were full on. Especially when it rained it was just amazing to see the whole stage, colorful sky and people really digging it.

I somehow got real lucky and ended up with one of the three rooms on the ground floor of the Mountain Resort which had a attached private garden and a remote hiking mountain path to a spot in a small cave type formation on the edge of the hill , from here i could see a panoramic view of the mountains and the best view of sunrise and sunset. This spot which took which was literally on the steep side edge of the bandipur mountain was just mesmerizing. I could see miles and miles of valley's, huge water bodies and mountains at the end.

All in all had a great great time in nepal. some people said the security was a little tight in the fest, but that is very necessary according to me for parties of this scale. I was carrying my speakers, had a private after party gathering deep in the mountains, caught some amazing sunsets and sunrise, jumped off a mountain in a paraglide, ate some culinary delights before finally bidding good bye to beautiful and colorful Nepal.

Big kudos to Mountain madness/Universal religion team for keeping it real with all their massive effort to make such a gathering possible for all the freaks. Bholenath !

i did stop by for this and here are my thoughts ...

decor was expansive and flowing, but lacked the visual intrigue at night time needed for the freaks except for a 7 point green laser throwing random patterns into the ceiling...

music was bang on full power some really twisting and mind exploring sets at night, mornings and evening had a nice groove and come up to it,

good food over priced though, great energy and love on the dance floor and camp sites all around 24/7

toilets were a ruin, crew needs to maintain hygiene as importantly as the security guards and plain clothes officers all over the dance floor

"some people said the security was a little tight in the fest"

thats a understatement bro, security forces were really at it all over the camp sites and the dance floor the first two days atleast, universal religion from all over the world maybe but not much universal freedom and liberty needed for the trippers who all unite for this very purpose.

pulling a gig like this is not easy and my respect goes out to the unr 2013 crew for presenting it in the best way possible, love
and light to them

a fab location some melting sunrises, sunsets and lets not forget the startlingly vibrant moon, freak blessed and the woods blowing their wind into your soul hahaha makes a tale to remember

oh and as pys-junky said the sunday evening showers were heaven sent

Thanks for the info.

Probably was just my lucid observation, i walked in half way through the set when i saw one dj finish and stepping off the stage in your v/s set.

On the third night i went to check out the line up card, to my surprise only the first sheet of the card was up, other two pages probably fell with all the stomping at front of the stage.

Yes, party seems to be canned. Some bad press, ignorant backwardness, corrupt officials !!
So much tourism for a country like Nepal and they ruin it for everyone including their own financial/tourism interests. Our countries need to learn a thing or two from europe about making money for smaller rural town to develop them slowly.

http://www.nepalitimes.com/blogs/thebrief/2015/04/23/universal-religion-nepal-cancelled/

I hear a smaller alternative is being planned for the people already there whereas some are already in pokhara.
MM/UR crew has kept it real up until now, lets hope the refunds come and they keep the trust unlike shanti jatra debacle.

thats sad to hear, good decision by the orgs to pull it down, safety is vital rather than jail time, well the orgs are'nt blame free for their actions either,a lot of people work hard and save money for these fests,I feel for them too...

its really sad that people are not free to explore their own consciousness in the way that they want to,

can't fight the system           --------------------------------------------
