Is anyone doing the overland journey from Delhi? I think it goes something like...
-leave Delhi by train on 2nd night
-reach gorakhpur 3rd morning
-take a bus to the border, about 3 hours
-cross, take an overnight bus to Katmandu
-reach Katmandu in the morning
-head to thamel and catch the bus to the festival

Shanti Jatra FullMoon Festival 3,4,5,6 Oct'09 .. Start OFF your Journey a Day Before your Schedule .. from Gorakhpur to Kathmandu will take nearly about 12hrs.. you cannot Join Festival from Day 1 Then .. choice is yours .. ??

the gates will be open only on 3rd. as per your plan u might be reaching themal only by mid day on 3rd, you could still make it for the festival, the bus service will be runing till 3rd evening. But starting you journey frm Del a day earlier is better so ur there at Jatra frm the time it starts

Its always betr to reach a day before ...eat some nice food round the area and take rest!!!! before mayhem starts !!
