Ah yes, Rena Jones full length album coming in time for summer!

She's finishing it up as we speak, and what can I say? It's stellar...

Finally heard the albumn enough times to give my review and can I just say Evan you are really good at picking music that puts people (or atleast me and my fiance) in a very subdued and absolutely chilled out state. This albumn is totally sublime and very IDM'sh - not to put labels on the music. Its totally atmospheric with PHAT beats that caress the melodies and sounds like a mother would her child. My fav. track to play in a set is the string theories track and my fav. track to listen to if I am majorly stressed out or am alone at home getting geshtunken flucked is the Rena Jones track. Thanks for compiling this albumn - I think Native State is fast becoming a label whose albumns I can blindly buy without even listening to the samples (as i did with this albumn since the samples dont work on saiko )

Punkah, no one hates you for expressing an opinion. I'd rather people have an opinion than none. This compilation is different than your average psychill comp, and was meant to be so. It's more of a classic ambient album that should appeal to listeners of all types of electronic music.

well, i don't consider your other albums and comps nor the ones i usually like "average".
but i agree with you when you say thats a "classic ambient album" (a little more than this, hehehe), and thats what kinda bored me.
specially once it was a "classic ambient album" made to "appeal to listeners of all types of electronic music". even dough its of an imaculate beauty, hardly it would appeal to me the same way..

but i know a lot of people loved it. and i know you guys at Native State are in a constant musical mutation and are not into sterotypes, so at the same time i don't aprecciate that much this individual piece, i know i can always expect something new and astonishing.

+: surely the iTunes service will be very convenient, so that i can buy the tracks i like the most. nice one .

I wasn't insinuating that your tastes were average. What I meant to say is that we are trying to push the envelope a bit as far as whats getting released into this scene. I don't want to play it safe. I know that we'll alienate some listeners on some albums, and other listeners on other albums, but at the end of the day if the music is memorable to those who "got" it, then we've succeeded in making the musical landscape richer and more varied.

Hey all!

Alienation??? I feel this album screams "inclusion" with every song! each piece includes elements stemming from across various genres, a sup of musical textures blended together very delicately so that none is really too overwhelming or prevailing over the other. I feel this makes it appealing to various crowds, introducing to each of them a taste of foreing musical flavours within the same menu they are usually comfortable with. Probably the hardcore "monogenre" fans will feel uncomfortable with it, but for many others it will reveal wider horizons of sound.

Well done guys! I'm getting some really good feedback here in London

many smiles to all =)

My favourite chill compilation this year with Arcana from Intechill. Bluetech did a great job of presenting this lovely textural and more quiet stuff for psychedelic audience. I was really delighted!

And I love the first compilation as well. Strong label indeed.           http://musicandhappylife.blogspot.com/
