No I disagree! Strongly very strongly,
This names represent very different styles and if for you it’s all the same, maybe you are just don’t hear the music? Or don’t care for this music
For me this is very important!! You will never see me on Progressive party , and its not psychedelic at all , and it doesn’t progress nowhere , some ppl like this style, good luck , but don’t nobody mistake this music with POWERFULL new killer smasher DARK sound from killer upcoming artist from allover the world !!! OK????

allmost everything that comes under the label psytrance is "music for the bodies" nowadays.
it´s popularized (the weirdness and trippy edges have faded to please the mainstream audience which isn´t that much musically enthusiast).
the last few years djing has become more and more a difficult task as the once so weird parties are more and more attended by nonpsy chemical drug users who are disgusted by my freaky weird mystical music. it´s just too much for them, and this makes me play even more extreme tunez, just to scare them away (hehehe) |

since when has powerful been a synonym to psychedelic? if you ask me the psychedelic elements are way more often found from the progressive trance side. to tell the truth there's not even one full on album i've heard in the last year or so that could be called even remotely psychedelic, well not if you don't count infected mushroom as full on, i sure as hell don't. hmm well maybe the tikal one actually. and just maybe the vatos locos album, but it's not full on either, well not exactly..
but then look at the progressive side, haldolium's vanity and happiness, lunaspice's reflexion and x-dream's we interface, all released in the last month or so, all psychedelic if you ask me..
just my 2 cents..

to Nik@hey man do you think that the dark style as you said is psychedelic because it's powerfull?Maybe is psychedelic with some "small paper squares".Heh listen the track Haldolium - smthg scrd..the deep tempo and the mystic vocals confuse your brain,your mind and then your body turns into a trip.After all 10 years ago when almost all the released tracks as psychedelic trance were really psychedelic causing you a trip into the sounds were very very deep like the progressive psy today.I don't think that the dry sounds of dark style can cause you psychedelic experience without drugs

Dark doesnot necessarily mean powerful(though more psychedelic)...........agree most of the russian dark stuff is only high BPm stuff like osom ,kdd,fungus funk etc........but there is all a type of dark with low Bpm which can be very psychedelic and as twisted to make u lose it
coming back to the topic i feel we do need classifications in this broad spectrum of "psychedelic trance" though i agree with u guys that psychedelic is not around anymore.........
the music is becoming more and more difficult to find though some artists still churn out some crazy psychedelic tunes
At the end there is a DOOR & waiting for you on the other side of that door is either HEAVEN or HELL |

progressive trance is by the way very bad name for the genre.. something like hypnotic trance would be way better.. it would actually describe the music a little..

Traveler what are you talking bout/ When did I say full on? I am sure u haven’t heard all releases this year , if u saying this , forget IM for me this band doesn’t exist for long time ?
... I like heavy music, first and important killer bass and kick ... strong, not fluffy, I never like fluff!!!!
second , I think Psychedelic in music is made with many syths and effects , and unfortunately as much as I listened to progressive music , I rarely observed anything that can even compare to the music that I prefer ok ??? nothing besides repetitive , good word Hypnotic , cause it makes me SLEEP ok ???

Taste will always differ...
and a psychedelic wonderland of sounds will never be easy to create.....
when i enter a dance floor i want to enter a new dimension/atmosphere... i want the music to take me into trance, take me to new places in the world of sound...
if the music is not well thought it will only take me out of trance and most of the time not even into trance....
an example on how it can be(for me):
i remeber when hux flux enterd the scen, it was a breakthrough... their album "Cryptic Crunch" took me to many places.... very psychedelic, i havent heard a single copycat of that music... its too difficult to copy probably...
todays new hux flux is not the same... because of what? because its not the same people that produce the tracks...and because of commercialism...
i dont know what to compare this act with(its uncomparable), but the phenomenon is almost in the same line as when the Twisted System album came... though they have almost gone too far with their formulas, but it was still something fresh and inspiring...
same as with Derango, Scorb and Shulman... and many many more... Cosma is one who converted his emotions to music and did it well....
so there are facts that you can make music that has some of your soul in it.... in my opinion not all music have soul.. but of course each to their own...
let your taste guide you, everybody has a place on this earth.... we are all different even if we think we arn´t... music is universal, we only have to learn how to interpret it... but first it needs soul  Soul = energy...

I agree with Nik@...
I just think the aggressive dark music is alot better musically than it's counterparts. It doesn't tend to rely on anything, it just keeps you guessing and guessing as to where it is going. I think it is VERY PSYCHEDELIC, but not as trancey as it's counterparts. It's almost too complex to trance out on, so many abrupt and rapid changes and when the bass drum starts to machine gun, it's definately more aggressive than trancey. Depending on what I want out of it, I can either listen and keep my brain completely busy with surprise from where it goes next or I can let my body feel it and it will take me over and send me into a maniacal state on the dancefloor(this is better achieved with small paper squares)
deep proggy style bores the hell out of me too... I don't want to start nodding out at the party, I want to ROCK!@!
