Hello Everyone

So Let's start my first post on this veeery helpful forum

I have created already many sounds with Cubase 5. I always face the problem that my music sounds too dark and dull (or clunk, not sure about the correct eng adjective )
I have no clue about Mastering and I'm not sure if this is what I would have to do after creating a track.
You can find an example of my latest production here:

There's also some other sounds there if your curious how the others sound.

If I compare my sound for example with this one:

(move to a bassline sequence)
I have to admit that professional sounds just sound much clearer and more open (don't know correct english terms). How can I achieve this? Or am I doing some little mistakes? Do I have to use EQ (not sure about how an EQ really works and what he does, played sometimes with it....

Thanks in advance for your help!
Much appreciated
Greetings from Switzerland!

oiiix, if you're looking for a fantastic, easy to use/understand synth with great quality and good presets, get Sylenth1

then download these free presets from a very helpful isratrance poster:

http://forum.isratrance.com/lennardigital-sylenth1-psy-trance-dark-full-on-goa-bass-preset-fxb/

http://forum.isratrance.com/lennardigital-sylenth1-psychedelic-goa-trance-kick-prisets/

but yes, read all the stickies that were linked above - and above all try not to get frustrated, there is a LOT to learn and it will take a lot of time before you get a polished sound.            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

+1 for sylenth actually - this goes for anyone learning. It sounds stellar doing the classic things that psytrance is good for - sawtooth filter squelches, metallic stabs, hypnotic arpeggio/pluck sounds.

You can also coax a deadly fat bass out of it.           Dance, even if you have nowhere to do it but your living room. ~Kurt Vonnegut

I already have sylenth... not used it very often yet.
Thanks very much for the links! and especially for the sylenth presets, will read/try them by tomorrow.
I also heard that there should be also a very good preset available for discovery here on isra but haven't found it yet

actually I also received a logic introduction from a guy who has a studio in my location and he taught me many great things... had to switch to cubase since the versions after logic 5.5 were not supported on pc anymore (shame on you, apple^^)..

hehe makus, did I mention that I don't really like to read? Ok no it's not quiet true but as I already have some knowledge it's sometimes hard to figure out what documents/books would be best to fill the gaps I have... That's why I like forums... Some ppl always come up with helpful posts that lead me to the next step in getting a better composer.

so gtg to bed now.. it's late already
many thanks again!
cheers

Yeah +1 for Sylenth
but as well for Vanguard! its easy to shape psychedelic sounds in it, very easy, and with just a tad of patience and tecnique u will most probably endu with somethign wicked.

Try them!            http://soundcloud.com/li-fe

I said I like it dirty, not muddy.

Guess I will replace the text to a better one^^

This is not a question about Hardware. Software can sound amazing using the right soundcard, monitors and understand what you're actually doing.

The point here is to practice and practice and practice.
