i was listening to a fresh v/a .and i thought myself that no more funny samples nad sounds are used.(i am refering mostly in the progresive part and less in full on-i can find funny funky tracks there, like broken toy or headroom EG)

and in an nostalgic crisis,i remembered trAcks like acoyazy-fairytale(nasa rmx) with the sounds of the coin dancing on the floor,or the sample of the water filling the glass in an ANTIDOTE track which the title i cant recall now..
and somehow i realized that the music has become more serious, more predictable, maybe more "profesional" in a way..
maybe it is tha labels that are afraaid to release music tyhat is kind of "weird",maybe it is the artists that are trying to be more confirmised in order to release their tracks,i dont know,it is a vicious circle propably...

just some thoughts           Signature:

Never hurt anyone to smile and laugh on the dancefloor due to something positive, and not negative, coming out the speakers.

Im all for funny samples If it works

tasos i checked the samples couple of days ago and i am really interested to get it in my hands

tsabeat i checked the samples in your new album and they rock, not my taste though.. but the video you posted in the links section is very very nice

krell,in my book it is all about having fun in the dancefloor

ask i will check yab yam,but actually my "complain"was more about the progresive trance part,as i said i can find funky groovy fullon

never liked funny samples = music was never Entertainment for me - never treated to it in that way - music is deep experience and jokes has nothing to do with that mood. - if i want to laugh I would watch tv or go to a show - that's why it took a long time 4 me to get into the first album of psysex.

And no I checked. I don't have broom stick up in my ass

i don't think a tune has to have a humorous sample to make it "funny," i think that's a big misconception which ends up with various artists releasing "tracks with a cheeky sense of humour" based purely on the fact that there is a south park or simpsons sample pertaining to drug use or somesuch nonsense. to me humour can be found in the cheekiness of the groove itself, for example i think "the great unknown" by koxbox has a great sense of humour, particularly the title track, despite its lack of spoken word samples. same could be said for haltya, texas faggott and all that finnish stuff...also the latest benza album, which i think is what you'd call proggy, has a great sense of humour evident in the music itself as opposed to spoken word samples...

actually dear randulon,if you read my first post(and the topic's title) you will see that i am refering in music samples and sounds, not words and spoken samples...           Signature:

apologies if i went on a diversion then, but i still feel the sound and rythym can be humorous in the absence of unusual weird and spoken word samples...

Well said i think the same, music is not a joke for me neither it brings me the best moments i ever had in my life! For sure i see the music of today as being on the contrary too happy or funky or groovy babe and it's not my cup of tea at all...I prefer serious specialised dancefloor music were i can leave my body here on earth and travel through time, space and conciousness.,..

It depends on the mood of the track..as a3k said, yab yum's tracks are sort of dark but hard night stuff and they still manage to make the sounds fun..even in non vocal samples. There are a lot of tracks where funny samples would just be completely out of place and ruin the feeling of it.

I have noticed the same thing as well. I think I can recall only Audiopathik, Double R.E.L that use funny samples in their music. I don't know, I find it a bit difficult to add samples like these while producing music..sometimes it just really doesn't fit in.

Maybe your own sense of humor has something to do with it..if you're not the funny guy it won't show in ur music!
