The long awaited album of the new side project of Cosmosis and Dj Kuma.

Turbo Trance records proudly presents "Speaking in tongues", the so much awaited album of Mumbo Jumbo.

After the success of their last compilation "Amazon", compiled by the charming and surprising Stella Nutella, Turbo Trance records now releases 9 amazing tracks of the most "groovy-funky" English Psy-trance project!

A quality album which follows the musical trends of this French label.

Mumbo Jumbo are Mitch Davies a.k.a Dj Kuma, actually working for Transient records and well known for funky well mixed sets, and Bilbo Bagginz a.k.a Cosmosis, one of the pioneers of Psychedelic trance music.

What a great review you’ve got there.
Copied and paste right out of Turbo Trance e-mail.

How about making your own review?

If you liked older Mumbo stuff this one won't dissapoint. They're one of my favourites live, and like the older releases, they've kept the same good balance between progressive structuring and repetition. Between full-power feel to slower tracks (136 - 143 bpm), hypnotism to euphoric highs. Much percussion, top production and that great sense of Mumbo Jumbo humour and Fun are definitely still there!

I hugely respect the producers for the end result: textured synths, funky rhythms, crisp tight kicks, a unique sound. The album is intelligently compiled (its mixed but divided by track markers), works very well start-to-finish at home AND on the dancefloor. Funny samples without sounding cheesy...another hard balance to achieve, done.

The mysterons Live mix is more twisted than before, along with Jax Back the most psy tracks on here. Techno boom boom RMX is a new remix, imo the best yet with that 'sonic elevator' that carries you through the break.

Also If youre a Chill-out DJ get this CD, the last tune is a deep journey at 93 bpm. Amazing track - think Ooze in space with a funky afro and snakeskinboots. The snake artwork hints at the textures in sound, though its more futuristic sounding than nature/reptilian. Make sense? Well there is a lot of percussion...its an album that combines many elements very organically too. Professional.

I do hear the same samples just a little too often throughout the album, and I think it sounds about half-a-year 'late' is maybe why its failed to inspire the forum, but there are plenty of new ideas here as well (interesting mix/pan/buildup techniques).

Overall, its an album that represents MumboJumbo as that fun and wise uncle you can joke with but you know when he gets serious, he knows what he's talking about; What Billy and Kuma do so well is use the silences between the sounds (a la Miles Davis), the pacing, as an instrument itself. Very mature and studied, though it probably comes naturally for them. Uncle also in the sense that you dont (want to) see him too often - its a distinctive sound - but when you do, you have a laugh... so check it...I think Speaking in Tongues deserves much support!!

Favourites: 1,3,5,6,9... 2 and 8 too really, hell, great artist album!

a shining light does dance,
lost from conscious memory,
but visible in trance!

i can't believe this album hasn't created a stir in the forum, its awsomely, arse wigglingly amazing.....2,3,4,5,8 are all fantastic and the rest are brilliant. i remember hearing kuma play at tyssen street in london about 4 years ago and still remember how funky his set was.

the potion of kuma and bilbo's well documented skills and imagination has delivered us a magical treat. if you haven't already, go and buy it
