Pavel the story is based on a true incident and not on mythology, the same story repeated itself many times in Greece after that, during the wars between Greece and Turkey in 1821,during World War I and ofcourse during World War II when on many occasions couple of hundrend Greeks defended their territory againsts thousands of enemy soldiers,it happened in Mesologi when thousands of Turks had barricated the city and couple of hundrend Greeks rushed to death instead dying out of hunger,it happened in the Albanian mountains when the Greeks were holding back the Italian and the German forces,it happened in the famous Rupel fortress where less than a hundrend Greeks were defending for days against the German war machine and when the fortress fell and the German officer saw that just a fist of men were helding the huge German forces back he ordered his troops to salute the Greek heroes, bury all the dead soldiers and treat the remaining alive soldiers the best possible without taking their guns away from them.

These are world history events and you can check them out anytime from many non greek historians just in case you think i am speaking patriotic here or whatever.

Actually you can find pictures on the net and on many history books concerning the Rupel story with the German officer saluting the greek soldiers.

With all the respect to you my friend dont doubt events for which you have no clue about and obviously havent spend time to read about them especially concerning ancient Greece matters which used to be a superpower back in the ancient times with probably the best military forces the world had ever seen, after all Alexander The Great reached till far India which is todays terms would be like a single country conquering the whole planet.

We are very brave when it comes to such situations you just have to live with that i guess

P.S The battle of Thermopylae with the 300 and King Leonidas was described by noone else than Herodotus who just for your info is globally considered today the Father Of History since he was the first ever world Historian who provided proof for everything that he said like exact dates, places, people and monuments,i hope you know about Herodotus since i consider you a quiet educated person           Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!

I bit offtopic but I thought it was Genghis Khan's empire the biggest empire in history:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mongol_Empire
but is normal for eachone their own is biggest and greatest.

But we Yougoslavians (Partizans) did also good job against the germans in WW II. I recommend you to watch thisone if you can find: http://www.filmovi.com/en/film/864.shtml
"Walter defends Sarajevo" a movie from 1972.           to use your head you have to go out of your mind

Actually the British Empire was the biggest in history with Mongolian the second biggest but the timeline difference of the Macedonian Empire of Alexander The Great and the Mongolian Empire is around 1500 years (and almost 2000 years with the British Empire) so you can understand how much more important and more difficult was Alexanders job

A lot had changed in 1500 years and this makes Alexander's conquest bigger and most important than any other empire if you ask me.I mean the guy reached India on a horse with his huge army from the northern part of Greece and through the huge Persian Empire fighting all the way to the top. That guy was the biggest general of all times if you ask me based on the timeline and circumstances he was fighting.

Anyway we are offtopic here indeed like you already mentioned.

I just wanted to point out to Pavel that the 300 story is real (although highly dramatised like i already mentioned) and its all written down by the father of history Herodotus himself.           Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!

I know it was great what macedonian empire reached, but in 1200 the Mongolians they did't had neither much more then horses and similar weapons but check this:
"1227: Genghis Khan's death; Mongol leaders returned to Mongolia for kuriltai. The empire at this point covered nearly 26 million km˛, about four times the size of the Roman or Macedonian Empires." it's also written in historical books. Sory for offtopic I could not resist.
It's just this kind of debats we don't have much her on Isratrance           to use your head you have to go out of your mind

Adigroovy ofcourse the Mongolian Empire was bigger in both land and population but i still insist that the 1500 years between the Macedonian and the Mongolian era are a huge time space during which a lot of inventions took place in every science including ofcourse the military sector.

One of the most important factors being the development of siege weapons and catapults that were almost non existant in the ancient years, same with shields, armors and heavy weapons that were more endurable in those days.Thank the chinese for all those gadgets including the famous silk underwear that protected the Mongolians from arrows hehe.

Ofcourse the most important factor of all was that the Mongolians were so many in numbers that almost always outnumbered their opponents in the battlefield unilke the Macedonian armies that were usually (not to say always) much smaller in numbers than their opponents in scales such as 5 to 1.

Thats why i insist that Great Alexander was the greatest general of all because he always started the battle with more difficult conditions than his opponents and especially in the wars in the Persian Empire which was huge.He was a tactics man indeed           Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!

I know it's based on real story but it's veeeeeeery loosely based. No disrespect for the Greek history whatsoever. If any than to American Cinema.           Everyone in the world is doing something without me

There are many stories that ancient greek philosophers had an affection towards young men (not boys) but thats something we cant know for sure i guess.

Concerning Great Alexander and the movie Troy well just bad american cinema i guess since they show half the greek kings and generals as homosexuals or to state it even better bisexuals with a preference on young men.Innacurate info in my humble opinion just like many many other false information showed on both films, they even mixed up the characters and places in some situations especially in Troy.           Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!
