^^ the great himalayan national park wud be closed (as far as i know) in dec.
many ppl. dont know but kheerganga & kalga are all inside the GHNP although the main gate is from Sainj, u have to take a diversion from Aut.
also enquire bout the permits i think it's either from Aut or from Sainj
if u r a wildlife buff like me this is a paradise! u can see:-
Western Tragopan
Monal
Musk Deers
Himalayan Thar
Snow Leapord (if ur lucky)

bout the pin valley NP i think it's virtually impossible to do it in dec as it snows v.very heavily & the only 2 routes to go there is either from spiti which is very dicey scene in dec. & the other by foot crossing from parvati (which is impossible)

also it's too risky to venture into these altitudes in dec.

do let us know bout ur plans bro           the problem with valuing art is, till u dont understand it, it's worthless but wen u do understand it, it's priceless!!

Oh no! How disappointing. So that means I can't do either of them...I guess I'll have to chart out another plan for this year.

well if ur intrested in wildlife u can head to corbett national park jus at the foothills of the Himalayas (thats if have'nt been there already)
it's a gr8 sanctuary with the widest diversity of flora & fauna
nearly 600 species of birds & many types of mamals right from the tiger to the elephant also otters & crocs can be spotted in large nos.

this is where my love for birds started wen i spotted this bird called 'Paradise Flycatcher'           the problem with valuing art is, till u dont understand it, it's worthless but wen u do understand it, it's priceless!!

Ah yes. Corbett. Almost slipped my mind. I guess I'll see how to club that in with my trip to Manali. My birding adventure begun when I saw a Eurasian Eagle Owl pick up a hare some 20-30 feet away from me!
Thanks for the info

Namaste

Guys just got back from Darma valley..and i can say its my greatest feat..the valley is magical..really beautiful and the panchachulli peaks view from dantu (early morning at 6:30) and from the base camp is out of the world..there is tremendous energy which pulls you towards them..you have to see it to believe it...extraordinary vision..cannot explain it in words, didn't see much of greenery though since its november..but if you guys reading it do plan to head here go in august ..its lush green area..so is all of kumaon.

Now the cons of this valley (atleast for me) is..dont go here alone like i did..its a strange feeling i got once walking across the forest..like someone is always following me..i totally wanted to get out of it..and i did..walked for 30km yesterday to head back to dar village (7.30 hours of walking with 15kg weight on my back) was really tired ofcource maybe i was just freaking out anyways....today i went to swami narayan ashram on the kailash circuit..really quiet place its worth spending a day or 2 here..and the vultures around...uffff..mammoth size

anyways..heading to munsiyari tomorrow..writing for dharchula and can you believe this just one bridge of 20 metres separate india and nepal from here..so im gonna log off and head to nepal for a cup of chai

cheers guys..and yes the himalayas are truly magical.

Hey Guys thanks a bunch.
Kumaon is truly magical..i wlll upload some mind bongling stuff from chaukori and patal bhuvneshwar in this region tomorrow.
Please wait for this maddening sunset i saw in chaukori yesterday.

@krunal >> bro i finally saw what you were talking about the topographical vision of the kumaon hills over munsiyari..it felt like floating above clouds..with hill tops poppng out of the clouds like icebergs ..will upload the pics tomorrow..and kumaon has the most panaromic vision of the himalayas (Nanda devi, Nanda devi (east) Maiktoli, Nanda kot,Trishul and more seen) from chaukori to gangolihat so you would require as wide angle Maybe 10MM lense to capture them.

Moreoveer whosoever plans to visit kumaon...Do not i repeat DO NOT miss "Patal Bhuvneshwar cave" you wil go completely nuts when you get in it and see it..its the most insane thing i have ever seen, Couldnt take pictures since its not allowed.

@lovenlight > Have fun in puerto rico , this trip was really needed in your schedule i feel, take some good pics. speak to you soon.

Logging off from almora
