Here go films that you found them to be much better than the Academy/IMDB/Critics thought they are.

1. Devil's Advocated.
The story was great, the cinematography was top notch and all the actors cast did an exceptional job (well except Keanu Reeves that mailed in as usual). You had Al Pacino giving a top performance for the last time of his life (perhaps in Heat as well) and Charlize Theron for the first time of her life showing her talents (and fine body as well). This is an awesome awesome movie that got very chilly reviews for some reason.

2. The Fountain.
Beautifully shot, convincingly performed by Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz. And obviously the amazing music by Clint Mansell under Darren Aronofsky's direction. This should have grabbed Oscars at least for the music and the art. But no luck..

3.Into The Wild.
If you saw the film you know what I mean. This should have taken all the Oscars in 2008 but instead they well went to No Country For Old Men. What a robbery           Everyone in the world is doing something without me

Into the wild is like an underground movie
Everyone who saw it had only good things to
say about it and recommended people
to see it, and its really an amazing movie.....
Its a mystery why went under the radar of critics.
Now say the magic words: Bleep Bleep Deep Deep Wham.....

Pavel, I fail to see why not winning Oscars makes movies underrated.
As for IMDB... well...           ---------------------------------------------

Because roughly before 1997's triumph of Titanic the Oscars had a legitimacy. Nowadays after such movies like Titanic, Crash, No country for old men and Chicago it became a contest of who was the strongest lobby in the academy.
Also, while Slumdog Millionaire is a great movie by all means, it won only by it's importance to raise the Western's awareness to 3rd world countries. Also the fact that Wrestler, Dark Knight and Wall E weren't even nominated is a complete robbery

The Devil's Advocat was just a good movie in my humble opinion.

By the way an Oscar doesnt make a movie good.

For me the Cannes Festival is much more important than the Oscars.           Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!

I think alot of people find The Devil's Advocat too over the top, I agree though thought it was fantastic.
I'm a big fan of Guy Ritchie's Revolver, completely not understandable and I dont think it has a point but its fun to watch it a bunch of times to try to make sense of the story. Awefull reviews if you look it up.

Dude, the Devil's Advocate is in no way underrated - everyone knows it's awesome, and most people have seen it. To be honest, I didn't see the other two.

I'd add Planet Terror, which people say "it's just another zombie film" whenever it's mentioned, and I answer with "no, it's the best Zombie film EVER" - and while the movie isn't too deep (hey, it *is* a zombie film), it's visually powerful, brilliantly paced and very well written.           http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222

I just pretend these movies don't exist and don't tarnish the Tarantino and the Rodriguez record.           Everyone in the world is doing something without me

The Acid House is one of my faves, and almost noone's ever heard of it. It's based on Irvine Welsh's novels (the dude who made Trainspotting), it's so crazy I love it to bits.

Memento, Pi and Requiem for a Dream are also high on my list (but I don't know if they can be considered as underrated).

Oh and you also have Rec, best zombie movie of all times IMO
