The summer is here again and there are some corking parties coming. I have decided to focus on developing my morning collection. This is already the major part of what I have but I want to go further. Can anyone suggest any new tracks that they have heard that flicked the switch. I have most of the released stuff so I'm really appealing to your truffle hunting skills for things to look out for. Recently (in agreement with your message the other day Tom) the vibrasphere album and some stuff on iboga have really done it for me as well as some new Vatos Locos stuff but I imagine I must be missing out on lots of things as that the way these things are. Most of the cheeky stuff I've had lately has lacked the depth needed for the morning. plenty of euphoria and sunrise sounds but not enough of the meditative drawn out 8am stuff. Any housier Kamaflage style suggestions would be fat to.
You may say that just asking people for tune suggestions is against the credo of trance geeking but I think this is maybe against the spirit of the morning sound (om shanti....rum tee tum...)so anyone who suggests a tune that really rips my legs off can chief a beer off me at sunrise at a forthcoming party this year.

p.s. if this seems like it should be on a different page please leave it here as I want to know what the english obsessees have to say. After all, they may be the ones who have to put up with my mixing.cheers T&A.

hullo ron!

i was thinking about this q yesterday when i was wandering around london...

Yeah so vibrasphere is the canonical suggestion... but also Reefer Decree.... the album has been out a while but still does the job:)

Especially Reefer Decree - Curved Air (which isnt on the album but is on.. hmmm.. well it's on Protune comp Psycholympics and on Digiboga comp Cross Link.... anyway I bet you know this tune... one of the best progressive tunes of all time!!!!!!!!!!!!)

umm but also I was listening to the India Drop album yesterday and track 1 is a nice open morning tune.... actually track 3 'backwards into chaos' is fucking awesome... but more suitable for ripping your legs off than playing in the morning hoho

Also the tegma album.... but now i am stealing tom's ground.... he is really the man for the progressive morning sound.... i hear the new ticon album is very good too and i bet it's in this mould.... really looking forward to it...

hmm the atmos tune Force Five on Digital Structures Emissions (which also has Vibrasphere - Newport) is an extremely good morning tune..... it's an awesome compilation i reckon.... I keep coming back to it.

ok ooops that's more than 2 cents:)

PS: come to this party in wales on saturday!!!

It seems that everyone else is too busy picking up chicks on kristian's thread or doing their pressups for wales. might come over there on saturday jon.
so back to the top of ther pile with this thread and we'll try again. Morning tracks people? this is a forum after all.

mmm curved air is slick, i agree one of the all time prog hits.....but......
what's all this about prog in the morning, really what we want is the so close but yet not quite over the cheese line....fun and fluff in the morning, stuff like zorba and moovers and groovers, doof, prometheus, endless tristan sets, you know, those that's gets you shaking your ass with a smile on your face with the sun in your face, rather a face set in furious concentration at the progressive lines....

hehe hi tigga!

umm for my part i'm not sure how come i like progressive in the morning so much... must date back to some specific occasion i expect...

i'm not talking about the darker progressive sound (older bitmonx, antix tunes etc etc) but the new progressive morning sound... much more open sunny sound..... like the recent stuff on iboga, dig structures etc.... yum yum

people sometimes say it is a 'clubby' sound but ive gone off that word cos it sounds derogatory.....

Im with zombi on the magnetrix album.... it's got it all! open morning tunes like quagga and groovy killers like suppencaspa which ive been known to stick on repeat play....

I know what you mean about pushing that fine line of distinction between cheese and just pure morning bliss. I think that There is potential to really blow people away with that sound if you use restraint.
Ragesh by Yahel for example is pretty cheesey but its so peaceful, you can't really knock it. Or that ol' corker, First by Private taste. Goa mornings never sounded so good.

I want to be able to play something really meditative. I've just seen a new filur remix of curved air which sounds great. Its on a mix cd sadly though. (on with the truffle hunting, DJ seb might regret putting his e-mail on isratrance as he is about to be sieged with pleas for a clean copy).

Also any sexy housey twisty stuff...Bright Lights by quirk is a favourite. Just heard Bob McAlpine drop an obscene new Manmademan CDR on the weekend which was psyshedelic Disco at its best.

Ultimately there is no best or innately superior morning sound. You never know what mood people will be in (manky elation?). So keep the suggestions coming and any of these tracks (except possibly infected mushroom ones) might wake up a hillside near you.

Astral Mike, there should be more people like you.

Tom, I went to a party in hell last night and sure enough Bang on cue at 6.20am Beezlebub dropped DMT by Skazi followed by a trainwrecked mix into the dealer by Tortured Brain; just as the sun crept over the distant sulphurous pits and the crowd of lawyers standing next to me lit another skunk chillum (no offense Mark Allen).

Just found "2nd toughest in the infants" by underworld. The 3rd track (maybe called She said?) is a surefire track for the Lizzard hour. Haven't actually played at a lizzard hour (when everyone totally trances out and reacts to the tiniest little noises and are frankly too ph negative to speak) for some time but we live in hope.

holy crap i reckon ticon - back to basic, off the new album aero, is a peach! It's an epic dreamy tune and fits the morning-tune bill.....

thanks for the headsup about the filur remix of curved air henry and mike.... filur seem to be doing pretty well at the moment:)

edit: oops didnt realize filur is seb from son Kite.... maybe it's not that surprising how high quality tunes he is producing then....
