Psychedelic is like music a matter of taste and not something that can be predefined. A bird sound or a blip can be psychedelic and a repetitive beat can be psychedelic to the person going into trance from the repetiveness. There's no rule...it's all up to the individual and her/his experience....So to say that this artist and that band is more psychedelic than other bands/artists is pure nonsense..... It's a matter of taste - and not a prefabricated opinion shown by some people here. |

I agree somewhat with Elysium Project. Although I think there is a difference between Hypnotic (progressive/minimal) and Hallucinogetic (Psychedelica, Goa).
Hallucinogetic is per defition focusing on the visual side and the imagination, rich of colors. IMO loatsa psytrance especially progressive/minimal doesn't tend to enhance the visual experience at all. Quite the contrary...Look at the sleeves...clean and sober...very unpsychedelic.
The psychedelic benchmark is Pink Floyds UmmaGumma for me (especially the Syd Barret live album)...The closer the music is to that in terms of weirdness, alienating melodies and breaks...the more psychedelic...
Very psychedelic trax imo:
Shpongle - DMT, my head feels like a Frisbee
The latest FSOL album (the Isness)
Benza - West into the Sun
Pradhamandala - Gnome Grown
