There is nothing wrong with 'modern psytrance'. You can not judge all music when you haven't heard it, because theres so many different sub genres. Like the people said, just keep playing the songs you like and nothing will go wrong. We have to accept theres a bit of everything these days.

hallucinogens and 'friendly' police will never make it together. so it is no weird to see less people tripping from both artists and audience. to me finally, less people trippin means smaller music circles within tunes and no actual power through depth or multiple meanings on the same track maybe. |

i take this phrase to mean
" just because something is newer doesn't mean it is automatically better or more 'modern'"
and i agree,
as i think that some art has some serious concept/well thought-out idea behind it, and therefore stands the test of time.
it IS quite common for a new generation to think they are radically reinventing stuff, when it's only their prejudices that blind them to the derivative nature of their work, and the quality of what may have come before.
this is the counterpoint to the old constantly griping about the crappy music of the young.
they go hand in hand as precepts...
*additionally, i have heard people saying "modern" to refer to the particular sound THEY happen to like... thereby making other styles/sounds seem "old fashioned" by comparison...hahahahah...mind games.

You have to include 'inspired' here as well, however that's measured.

Totally true, especially evident with pop(ular) music. But not just prejudice, also innocent ignorance.

Modern music reflects not just where music has evolved to, filtered through the history and tastes of the producers, but also reflects the times. Short attention spans, more intense and pronounced phrases, distinct expressions etc. All of this is exemplified in modern psytrance. Most apparently in the hard delineation of genre styles.

Haha exactly. New ideas and innovations in sound right there
Funny thing is, you'll probably be hearing this on the festival circuit. |
