When we started Mistress of Evil Records we did so with the intention of promoting some of the fantastic and talented unrecognized musicians that were coming out of San Francisco as well as to highlight another side of psychedelic trance music in a time where there was not much variety within the genre of psytrance as a whole. Its been such an honor to see all of our local friends and artists really take off with their musical careers and receive international recognition for their talents. We have learned so much from this experience, it has really been amazing!!
Much has changed since we first began this project, not only in the worldwide Psychedelic Trance community but also within ourselves. We are finding ourselves simply uninspired by the direction that much of the "dark trance" has gone. What initially attracted us to this style of music was its power to really touch a deep place within ourselves that not much else was capable of reaching. We are still actively searching for that cathartic experience, and have found ourselves limited by the Mistress of Evil concept. When the concept itself becomes limiting, it is time to move on.
We will continue to seek the next (r)evolution in sound, and perhaps you will see us reappear in the not so distant future under another guise. Our passion for music, dance and psychedelic culture is still burning strong!! We will continue to be active in the community and supportive of local and international psychedelic gatherings. Thank you to all the artists that have released their music on our label, you are the fuel for this fire. And a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us along the way, I can honestly say that we have the best friends and fans ever! Seriously, M.o.E Loves You!

just to clarify, we won't be making any new releases as Mistress of Evil, but we will continue to be active in the local and international psytrance communities!

Thank you for the wonderful sounds released in the life span of the label... and thank you for being true to the music!
Underground psytrance really has reached a point where it needs to take the next step and evolve to something that has an apex! It's a beautiful struggle but what it focuses on can be more than destruction... 2007 feels like the year when evolution begins in all ways...a very powerful number.
All the best to the crew for the year and beyond!

My only question is if you arnt happy with the direction dark trance is taking , why not go ahead and show the right path ? fight mediocricy with originality instead of hanging your boots at a time when this movement needs good labels like you . if it is the sales of your cd's that are driving this decision of yours then i can understand.
Will look forward to the next (r)evolution in sound .. hope you return soon.
