Hello guys!
I respect a lot all opinion that say Shogun won that fight (and they are like 99% of the population lol) but I must say I really think MACHIDA won it.
First of all, it wasn´t a fight where you could take the belt from the champion and give it to a new champion. Remember, in Title fights we must see a clear advantage from the challenger against the champion to make him the new champion.
Plus, as Judgee CECIL PEOPLE said, Shogun shot a lot of LOW KICKS in Machida, while Machida counter-atack punches in Shogun´s face or Knees... The judgees counts points for those that are looking for the KO, to finish the fight, and at this point we also must agree it´s easier to finish a fight with punches in the face then with kicks in the leg, right?
And, finally, I really think Machida won rounds 1, 2 and 3, while Shogun won rounds 4 and 5. Of course since Shogun won the final 2 rounds we have the image in our minds that he won that fight, but, if you see the fight from the end to the beginning, you will think Machida won!
Anyways, healty discussion, which is much better for the REMATCH, that will happen in 2010!

Machida won, little kicks won`t get Shogun to the belt... If he wants it, he has to show more than that, and if he tried it, Machida would knock him down...
When Lyoto got his belt, he did what he did... So next fight, Shogun should be more aggressive or just go home with another lose by ref decision.

I've seen the fight 4 times now, sorry but I still think Shogun won. And even Lyoto looks like he lost when the bell of round #5 rang.

I agree with the low kicks point but I totally disagree with the notion that you have to really beat the champ to get the belt. You can win by a photofinish in Olympics and you can win via penalty in the World Cup. The same can be applied here as well.

"Never leave it to the judges" is to me a stupid trick to get the fighters into taking unecessary risks so the masses will get entertained and buy more pay per views. On the other hand, who wants to see a fight with 2 fighters just picking points by not stepping out there with every intention to win by sub/tko/ko.

Vera, Kang, Hardy, Etim and Gustafsson are the fights I'm realy looking forward to!
Gustafsson is the 3rd swedish guy to enter the octagon, I hope he does better than Bielkheden and Eklund. In their defence they took on some fierce competition.
Any thoughts about Couture - Vera? Is it time for Randy to retire or what do you think?
For me it's always a pleasure to see Terry Etim fight, he hasn't been on the maincard yet and it seems like it's another prelim fight but if he keeps winning he might step up into fighting with the 'big boys'.

In my opinion Machida won the fight... but now they went too far... Couture lost to Vera...
Hope UFC doesn`t become another Pride... |

So any feelings regarding ufc in manchester last saturday? Except for the judges robbing another fighter of a well earned victory.
I liked seeing Dan Hardy stand up in the spotlight and do a good job even against a good opponent. Also YAY!!! for Gustafsson for taking a win by KO for the first time in the UFC for a fellow swede like me!

I liked all the matches except for the 2 Main Events. I feel GSP would walk through Dan Hardy once he gets him on the ground. As for Vera VS Couture, well Couture lost a lot of respect in my eyes. I know he had his plan to neutralize Vera but damn, this looked like the Italian football team's strategy for Mondial. Bunker, bunker, bunker.
I'm just glad Bisping and Pearson won. 2 of my current favorites.
