Check out this wonderful artist, releasing music since 1996. After hearing only one track previously (on Arabian Travels 2) I was completely stunned when hearing his full lenght albums. The energy and the vibration is incredible! And the music's very cool, could be played in any party. I love sufi spirituality and whirling dances where all the boundaries melt and the reality becomes one.

mercan dede aka arkżn allen. he is turkish but lives in montreal. I think he is getting a bit commercial in turkey.           `Bottomless wonders spring from simple rules, which are repeated without end` Mandelbrot

I've got the album "Nar" and it's a really nice mix of modern and traditional. How about the other three albums or other releases?           ::Memento:Audere:Semper::

His first album Sufi Dreams is deep and dreamy. The second, Journey of a Dervish is also deep and shuffling, and has some singing in english.

Seyahatname is a little more uptempo, but just a little. And Nar I haven't heard, but I just ordered a new double cd Sufi Traveler, which has the albums Nar & Seyahatname in the same nice price pack Not the nicest cover for that I think, but the price is not bad

Saw him performing with couple live musicians year ago with "swirling dervish kinda female dancer" - had a blast. Sufi Traveler CD is ok, but seeing him live is much better           http://www.chillumafia.com

I've been listening to "Su", "Nar" and "Seyahatname" very much over the past nine months or so and they just keep on growing on me. And people get so touched when I'm playing some tracks from them in dj gigs...

Arkin Allen released an album last year called "Fusion Monster" ... I haven't checked that out yet ...

Dede's Doublemoon Records' East 2 West - series is also a fantastic way to get in touch with other great turkish artists ruling Istanbul at the moment           http://musicandhappylife.blogspot.com/
