The new MD from sony , mz-r 900 , have a pitch control. otherwise, you can't do beat mixing with MDs. If you want to practice beat mixing the best way is to get yourself a CDJ set (playing CDs). Bom. |

its too expansive and and not too Meduyak. don`t mess with those shitty MD with pitch its kinda crap stuff.
if u want to mix the beats u have a couple of options:
1.get the cdj stuff its not so bad. 2.buy 2 turntables and have the time of your life 3.stay with md and not mix at all
hola muchachos. |

Maybe they just play a pre-recorded mix? |

in order to REALLY mix u need to have at least a 2 chanel mixer(well thats not too much). and yes! u need an audio machine with pitch control- and thats turntables or CDJ`s.(prefered Pioneer- the others r not easy to use).
ALL OTHER GUYS WHO use DAT or like 99.9% of MD`s can`t mix at all. think about it. |

hi all I've been mixing (and succesfully beat matching) regular mds for a while now and i have a few things to say and a few tips so here goes: mds are a great way to get into djing. its a lot of features in one very small package and cost efficient too. u can do with mds EVERYTHING u do with dats (much easier sometimes) and up till a couple of years ago no one was complaining about non pitchable dat mixing... so wipe away the misconsaption of not pitchable = non mixable. the two winning features that an md gives are its instant record ability which allows u to increase your library very quickly and the cost of the equipment itself and the discs. the quality of the recorded stuff is good enough, not as good as cd (but the diffrence is not big) and certainly good enough for party play. tips: a. as with every non pitchable equipment u have to rely on your skills alot. u have to KNOW your music. i suggest BPMing your trax. also, u have to know in seconds and bars when the beat kicks in and stops in every track. makes life much easier if u have all this data in as booklet u know by heart. b. u need good timing. either youre born with it or u learn it by practecing. its important cuz u dont have a cue button and missing the entrance point by half a second can ruin the mix very easily, weather youre beat matching or not. record your mixing and when listening to the recorded set you will be able to learn what youve done right or wrong, where u were supposed to press play a second earlier or 5 seconds later and such. c. there are various ways to mix trax - know them all b4 u do something - pad mixing, beat mixing (with trax that are of the same bpm and with trax that are'nt), sample mixing and stop & go mixing. d. its the same for all formats - learn to PLAY on the mixer as if its a musical tool - learn to work well with the eq. e. as soon as its possible - move to cds.
Yalla Bye!

What the fuck is the problem with MD's?It's good for dj'ing at parties and it's good for mixing. U just have to know the tracks and to select the ones that have approximately the same bpm range or record a ready mix that u mastered at home. Another way is to mark tracks with "in" and "out" points(that makes it much easier). MD's are cool!!!

i don't know what u talking about guys. i got Denon's md with pitch control and in one word - brilliant. this tool is amazing and it allowed u to make bit on bit mixing.
in my opinion the pitch is not the issue -its all matter of practice although pitch gives u the key for best mixing. |

the best mds for party mixing are - the cheapest u can find:) the equipment goes through a ruff time and the cheaper the better cuz if u bust an expensive bit - its painfull. just about any sharp or aiwa models will do. they are usually eisier to mix with rasther then sony models cuz the display functions are simpler (no need to go through the edit menues to see the remaining time) and the play/pause buttons are the same so it is less confusing and more intuitive. the quality difrence is minor in the max. mixers? what your wallet allowes - newmark, pioneer and such just make sure it has a full eq per channel, its stereo, pan per channel also nice and if it has a range kill button - very welcome plus.
