I had this question in my mind
Is it legal to call myself under name that already taken and release music commercially?
hehe
me and my friend talked about this for fun and
Think about it, if you are good artist who know how to make music like Infected or other famous band, you may sell lots of copies if you use the famous band names!
haha
Criminal mind huh?
Is it possible? Because I don't know any law about this.
Ps - this is just a conversation, I still think it is lame and really not proper to do such a thing, even if it is legal. |

Besides the fact that it is illegal (depending on where you live) its kinda sad to see someone using the same name as another artist. Considering that Infected Mushroom can make such original music, one would think that they could atleast come up with an original name (unfortunately it was not the case). The name is deff an interesting name besides the fact that someone else came up with it earlier.
And making money off of someone elsez name, in my opinion, is rather cheap. Doesn't really say much about your caracter.
So far the best name I have heard in a psytrane group (including album name) is by FAR Space Cat's "Shapes of Sound." Very unique name which actually lives up to what it states! Another name i like is "Sound scapes" which, unfortunately, is already taken by several other non-trance artists so I'll have to come up with something original when I try to make some music in the distant future.

With the laws it will depend if you have registred copyrights for your name.
In the menog case, his name is registered so yes, it was illegal.
And Anakoluth, even if infected didn't come up with the name, someone has...it didn't just fall from the sky...lol...just a thought...

i found some compilations to have famous band names but with spelling errors in them, they had nothing to do with the bands that people would think it might be ... just so they would sell better i guess...
