Totally agree !!!
Quick question @yidam >> Did you walk all the way from kasol to barshaini ?

nah... we were thinking about it but the bus from manikaran was pretty convenient. even skipped out on pulga-kalga-tosh.
we did some short treks from kasol to neighbouring villages, many only 2-3 houses big. wasn't too hot on the usual attractions as the season had already begun.
after this peaceful trip it'll be weird to see the place in a seasonal full flow. nevertheless, shall be there again for a summer adventure. |

Well bro, season time staying in kalga pulga area is the best bet.. kasol is actually screwed to the core, the shanti brigade moves deeper into the villages.. and more adventurous go to mantalai.
You should try this village called grahan its on the other side of Shilla.. you will not be disappointed and try rashol too.. its full power in rashol, back to the primitive.

this year i've been to parvati vally in the end of the winter from 20.2 till 15.3 and it was amazing
kasol was kinda dead, not more then 50 tourists all over the place, only one resturant open (holy evergreen )
i also went to calga and pulga - that was all full of snow, we were the only tourists in the village,
no resterant open so u need to cook for yourself onthe tandoori, all the locals was so happy to see us in their village in the winter time, and they were around u 24\7 trying to help u with everything
itwas really fun there, from there we went to tosh that was also empty of tourists and full of snow
it was an amazing expirience for me to be in this places totaly out of season
and to see all this snow was a view i will remember all my ife for sure
i only heard from ppl whats going on there in the full season time and its totaly diffrent
one day i will be there again, thats for sure...
viva la parvati!!! |

I was also in parvati in the month of january last year, sitting in cold and barren kalga, no tourists at all(Thank God) between the snow and clear skies, Wow i stayed like a primitive...hehe i used to make maggi/wai wai for myself at kalga then i moved to rudranag, trekked all the way to rudranag, i saw icicles on rudranag bridge and completely frozen watefall, next thing i was walking on ice with my porter, two of us stayed at baba's shed the only one in rudranag for the night, it was an awesome experience... i made RIce and served baba and my porter some maggi also. Next day i went to tosh on that deadly trail from nakthan, its not for the faint hearted i tell you.. 1 slip and you are dead...stayed in tosh for 2 weeks. BREATHTAKING views, totally incredible with snow and sitting with actual locals and chilling with them being a part of them....and eating rajma rice almost every after noon, heheh rajma is killer in that area, they also grow rajma besides the usual black crop.

[/quote]oye thats not true at all! parvati is never yuck..toursists no tourists doesnt matter...it aldo depends on the places you go to..kasol is kinda depressing(compared to other places) even with no tourists around...tosh,kalga,pulga,chhalal,rashol,malana do have lots of isra fuckers around..but that doesnt mean you have to mingle with them..find your own lil gueshouse away from them & enjoy..shanti..
kheerganga you can rent your own tent frm the lonely planet place(150 rs a day) and hook it up wherever you want..inside the forest..by the river..wherever!!!
and even among the tourists you meet some beautiful& interesting people...depends on the kind of energy you attract..
all i'm saying is...parvati= magical! whatever time of the yr you go |

hi.
i'm currently in delhi waiting for a friend to arrive here on thursday.
our plan is to go up to the north (parvati valley ), but heard some rummers about a party taking place in Caser Davey (spell?) Almora (another spell?) on saturday the 26th of april.
can someone confirm this information or tell me something about it?
if u can, please mail me to:
elilling@gmail.com
if u also have some tips about places to go to in the north, especially places with good parties now, please tell me.
thanks alot,
Eli |
