Very sad to hear for the promoters but mostly for the people that have already payed for their festival and flight tickets.
I understand that a long debate will begin sooner or later in this topic so i ask from everyone to be polite and calm.

this is the reason we are in this deep recession and economical situation here in greece!
cos of people like mdf organizers.. scamers and thiefs. you know who you are and its not the first time you act like this.
a great bussines plan that worked many times in the past it only got bigger by the time!
the world is small and one way or the other you will get what you deserve eventually.. for now you can enjoy peoples money but fate will get you..........

I received many phone calls,personal messages through this forum and emails about the cancellation of Mafia Dance Festival.
I will say my opinion in public (just in case anyone cares about it lol) so that i dont have to answer to everyone seperately and because i think that my suggestion to the organisers can set things straight.
In the past a lot of festivals around the world have been cancelled for various reasons,low presale,bad weather conditions,problems with the authorities and the local community,i even remember a festival in Croatia if i am not mistaken that got cancelled after huge pressure of a nearby church that claimed that trancers were satanists and the festival was some kind of a cult religious ceremony or something,i think it was Under The Water festival or something like that.
Mafia Festival is not the first and it will not be the last festival that is cancelled,unfortunately trance festivals and events are not very welcome for various reasons so they face more problems than other big music events.The word rave unfortunately is associated with a lot of bad and illegal things and its like a bad stereotype in our society.
A festival being cancelled unfortunately for the organisers and the trancers is not something uncommon,why it was cancelled though has to be explained by the organisers so that the people can learn the truth and the people who bought tickets will not feel cheated.Everybody knows the risk of buying a trance festival presale ticket but when something goes wrong and the festival get cancelled the people MUST know the truth.
I read the official explanation by MDF organisers and they specificaly said that "All necessary documents were signed and all essential actions had been taken to ensure the proper licensing of the Festival". This means that the organisers have a signed document by the local authorities giving them the permission to hold this festival in Mafia Island. Probably a signed paper by the local council and the mayor of the area, i guess the local council (dimotiko simvoulio in Greece) is the highest ranked official paper they could get as long as local authorities are concerned.
Since the MFD people claim that they have such a paper all they have to do is scan this paper and show it to the people, if they do this then from my side they are 90% right and they were fucked up by the authorities of Tanzania and i am tottally with them and understand that they did the best they could to ensure the authorisation of this festival but the authorities didnt respect the original deal.
You will notice that i said that the organisers are 90% right if they present this paper,i didnt say 100% right because there are two more issues that need to be cleared up.
First issue is that in their official explanation they claim that Basata (the National Art Ministry of Tanzania or something like that like the Greek Ipourgio Politismou i guess) is the authority that bypassed the authorisation they had from the local authorities and prohibited the Mafia Dance Festival. If thats true then the organisers should know beforehand that they should also have an approval from Basata and that the local permission was not enough to secure 100% the organisation of this festival. Ignoring the higher authority of Tanzania when it comes to music events organisation and relying just on local permissions is the fault of the organisers and they are responsible for what has happened. Yes its a small detail probably but its still their fault and since they wanted to organise an event in a foreign country they should have hired a local lawyer or consultant that should have adviced them that they both needed a local permission but also a permission from a higher authority like Basata.
Second issue is the deal that the organisers had with the local community, if the organisers had promised to the local community authorities that before the festival they would have set up certain facilities (like chemical toilets,water pipes,a hospital or i dont know what) in a certain deadline and this deal was not honoured by the organisers then this is something that the people must know because this might be the reason of the cancellation of the festival.
So if the organisers want the people support in this unfortunate situation they must open their cards and present to the people the official legal document from the local authority that permits them to organise this festival in the first place,if they do this then they have my sympathy and understanding and i am with them all the way,if they fail or refuse to do this then i am afraid that no explanation will be enough to explain to the people what has happened there and how this festival got cancelled and why people have lost A LOT OF MONEY on both festival and airplane tickets.
We are here to support you, give us a good reason to do so.

For all ticket holders, but especially the South African Family, we prepare something very special that will be announced in the next 2 weeks, so please wait until then before applying for your normal ticket refund.
MDF ticket holders who will be attending the South African party season starting September 2010 and ending April/May 2011, will be able to have free entrance to many Festivals and parties there. The exact list and details will be announced shortly but inlcudes all “Vortex” events, “Village” events and many events happening around their dates plus more! For international crowd could be a nice occasion to go to South Africa and party a month or more, for free!
It is expected that more party promoters from other countries, will offer their help and support. More free parties and festivals for the MDF ticket holders will be announced soon for 2010 & 2011, so stay tuned!
