thanks for the solid responses!
there are so many CHILLED OUT, nice people that don't really know about eletronica-chillout music where I live. open-minded people who would like it if it was presented right...
Some local DJs have the tendency to go over-the-top psychedelic (ex: Shulman in a yuppie cafe), weirdo experimental, or the worst for me is anythigTOO LOUD... so loud people have to raise their voices...and then get uncomfortable and leave... and i think it kills a nice atomsphere...
for me playing downtempo outside a "party" is more about creating an atmosphere where people can speak SOFTLY and INTIMATELY
and i really like the idea that Helen put out, of using accessable lounge sounds to draw people in...and then take it SLIGHTLY more psychedelic - once you have established a raport with the audience...
I am going to check out: Kruder &dorfmister (only heard tosca) , chill pill, Om lounge, thievery corporation.... THANKS for the solid advice....!!! |

KakoOlalaJwal -
you got it man.. excactly what I'm looking for... !
is "Chill Pill" a mixed cd?
The label website describes it as a "non-stop 14 song mix by Groovy Gravy".
a little bit poppy, but yes, accessable.

mmm an album I recently purchased which has had friends asking "so what is this" is Troubleman-time out of mind...it is latin/bossa lounge influenced, with a groovy twist, great vocals and brilliant simple foot tapping songs. Troubleman is actually mark pritchard from global coummunication and jedi knights...and their first ambient album 74:16 was a chill classic from 1994 (if I can remember)...also the 2nd remotion is a rarity...f'n cool |
